A new all electric mobile home expands in height, length and width at the touch of a button.
And it has its own electric-powered running gear to help make towing easier.
It also means near-zero range loss for EV drivers and less miles-per-gallon drain for gas vehicles doing the towing.
The limited edition AE.1 Cosmos battery is powered from an integrated, full-solar roof design.
The US company behind it, Colorado and California -based Lightship, says this is designed to deliver an all-electric camping experience without the noise of a generator or the hazard of onboard propane tanks.
It is said to have enough capacity for off-grid living.
The AE.1 sleeps four with a fully outfitted bathroom and galley kitchen equipped with dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, convection oven and induction cooktop.
The trailer expands and elevates with a single button to transition from what is called compact “Road Mode” when towing to “Camp Mode” when pitched up.
It rises upwards with more than two metres of extra headroom and expands sideways.

Two Tesla employees used skills they learned under Elon Musk to design the first all electric RV mobile home.

Because it provides its own power to move, it does not detract from the range of any vehicle hauling it, especially an electric one.

US company’s Lightship’s L1 has a solar panel covered roof and sleeps up to six inside the eight metre long cabin that features a full kitchen to a complete bathroom and lounge area.

The San Francisco-based firm aims to replace traditional trailers.

Lightship claims to be three times more aerodynamic than a traditional travel trailer, allowing it to be easily towed by a 480 km range electric vehicle.

Lightship L1 is 2.5 metres wide and two metres tall.

But  the roof rises to three metres when the user implements something called  camper mode.

This  raises the trailer's roof to allow people to move freely inside while standing.

The front features a dining area with a wraparound booth for seating that transforms into two large beds.

Founders Ben Parker and Toby Kraus used their Tesla expertise to design Lightship L1 with a self-propulsion system featuring an electric powertrain with up to 80 kWh of onboard battery capacity.

LIVERPOOL: 2008 EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE

Steeped in culture and with a rich history in popular music, performing, and visual arts, it is little surprise that the city of Liverpool is the European Capital of Culture 2008.

The city's most famous export is of course the Beatles, and there are a wealth of attractions and sites throughout the city all to do with the four mop-topped musicians.

The Beatles Story at the Albert Docks is a must for any Beatles fan. It is the only museum in the world that is entirely Beatles-themed, with exhibitions such as their instruments and other artifacts.

Undoubtedly the most famous club in the world, the Cavern Club was the birthplace of a music revolution that changed things forever. The club witnessed almost 300 performances by the Beatles and it was here that Paul McCartney played his last gig of the 20th century.

Visitors can also take a stop at Penny Lane and Strawberry fields, as made famous by the Beatles' songs.

Following a tiring day of sight-seeing tourists can choose to lay their heads down in either the Lennon or McCartney suites at the Hard Days Night Hotel - a Fab Four-themed hotel.

It's even possible to take a magical mystery tour on a yellow submarine over the river Mersey from the Albert Docks.

These docks are a tourist hotspot in Liverpool. Originally built between 1841-1848 as a prosperous working dock, the Albert Dock underwent a major restoration and has been converted into shops, apartments, restaurants and pubs.

As well as the Beatles story the dock is also home to the Merseyside Maritime Museum, which has exhibitions on every part of Liverpool's history, from the cotton mills and the primitive por...
