'This is your mission': why one Brazilian doctor Adana Kambeba is training to be a shaman
Adana Omagua Kambeba fought to become one of the country's first Indigenous woman doctors. Now she wants to bring the worlds of traditional and western medicine closer - and help Amazonian communities in the process.
Adana Kambeba, is a General Practioner/Family Physician (Medica de Familia e Comunidade, in Portuguese). In her work, she uses the ancestral knowledge of her people, Kambeba, from Amazonas, and the conventional medicine she learned during her undergraduate studies at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. She went to the Amazon Botanical Museum (MUSA), located in Manaus.
