Stephen Hawking graffiti tribute in Cambridge.
Graffiti artists have paid tribute to Professor Stephen Hawking on a bridge in his home city.
The huge piece of art work features a picture of his face and a silhouette of him in his wheelchair, together with the words "be curious."
Stephen Hawking graffiti, Cambridge, UK - 04 Apr 2018
Local artists Kyle Warwick and Tim Shuker-Yates spent five hours creating the impressive piece in memory of the renowned theoretical physicist, who died after a long battle with motor neurone disease on March 14, aged 76.
Kyle, 25, a tattoo apprentice, said Professor Hawking visited his primary school in Newnham, Cambridge, when he was about 10 to give a motivational talk during assembly.
He said: "I'm Cambridge born and bred, and Stephen Hawking used to come to my primary school in Newnham back in the day.
"I remember his visits always being a really big thing. I've also always been interested in physics and things like that - so I thought a graffiti portrait of Prof Hawking would be a really fitting tribute."

FEATURE - Jahresrückblick 2017: Otterfamilie in Singapur
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Tim Plowden/REX/Shutterstock (9251370ar)
A frail old Singaporean man taking his slow-paced daily walk is no threat to a family of 12 otters who have emerged from the mangrove river to scent mark the footpath on their way to hunting fish in the park pond. A cross section of Sinapore's younger generations watch this unique sight from a footbridge in the late afternoon sun. Otters will typically flee when anyone approaches, they are especially wary of curious young children who love to get close to these popular animals! Singapore's Smooth Coated Otter population has grown and expanded into urban areas in the past few years. You can tell when there are otters about by the small crowd of locals gathered at bridges to take videos with their smart phones!
A year in the life of an otter family, Singapore - 2017
    *Full story: https://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/tu8d
British photographer Tim Plowden lives in a wild corner of Singapore that is also called home by a family of smooth-coated otters. The photographer has been keeping track of the adorable animals throughout 2017 as they have successfully raised a clutch six cubs. Their territory stretches along several miles of coastline, a network of mangrove rivers as well as urbanised sections of river and parkland. And Tim isn't the only person to be enchanted by the furry family with many locals having also taken them to heart. Tim comments: ?The playfulness of the cubs is enchanting and I love how strong their family bonds are. They always look out for each other and if they are apart for any length of time they greet each other with such exuberance it makes you appreciate just how close their family ties really are".

    What are you looking at?!

Globe-trotting couple Chanel Cartell and Stevo Dirnberger have taken a series of hilarious animal mug-shots during their travels.

The series includes curious sheep, hungry rabbits, inquisitive cows and drooling bulldogs.

Chanel and Stevo quit their jobs 14 months ago and have been travelling the world ever since. The couple have visited 31 countries so far, and been papping animals along the way.

Chanel and Stevo said: "In order to get the style of picture we were after, we would use a wide-angle lens and we'd need to get really close to the subjects, which is tricky in itself. You then use the camera's continuous shooting function, and hope that the eyes remain in focus - this is the most important part."

Jordanian Photographer Robert Bahou has created a photo series that provides a glimpse into the souls of cats and dogs.

The project, entitled Animal Soul, features portraits of different breeds of cats and dogs.

Robert said: "I look for hints of truth in the photographs, and I have found that this is surprisingly accessible with animals. The reason for this is that I don't believe animals understand what a camera is. As a result, they don't behave the way we do when faced with a camera.

"They don't adjust themselves, turn to their good sides, pull a prepared face, or hide anything. What's left is a truly honest moment between them and the camera. I want to, in a very close and personal way, show that animals have unique and beautiful personalities."

A female visitor to the remote Shetland Islands sat down for a rest, only to have elephant seal pup crawl onto her lap - and fall asleep for hours!

Wildlife photographer Roy Mangersnes, who captured the hilarious scene this month, explains: "While hosting a photographic expedition to Antarctica for WildPhoto Travel I came across this cuddly scene on Elephant Point on Livingstone Island in the South Shetlands.

"After smelling the hand of Lea for a while he decided to use her lap as a pillow. It didn't take long before he boldly climbed all the way into her lap and fell asleep on top of her."
