FEATURE - Pinguine machen einen Tagesausflug zu Kunstmuseum in Missouri
An art museum in Missouri closed due to lockdown has given a private viewing to some special visitors: three Peruvian penguins from a nearby zoo.
Kansas City’s Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, welcomed Bubbles (5), Maggie (7), and Berkley (8) in to wander its empty halls as the state’s lockdown measures keep public spaces closed to humans.
CEO Julián Zugazagoitia welcomed the “special friends” from the zoo, who waddled around quietly in a two-foot-tall phalanx to peruse the works on display, stopping here and there.
The Nelson-Atkins boasts an internationally renowned collection of art from across the world, with more than 34,000 objects including African art and sculpture spanning two millennia, a vast Asian collection, and paintings by European masters from El Greco to Reubens to Van Gogh.
According to the zoo’s CEO, Randy Wisthoff, a trip to the museum, it seems, was just the thing to lift their spirits and open their minds.
“Taking care of wild animals at the Kansas City Zoo, we’re always looking to enrich their lives and stimulate their days,” he said.
“And during this shutdown period, our animals really miss having visitors come out and see them.”
Mr Zugazagoitia said they made their feelings clear enough.
“We’re seeing how they’re reacting to art. They seem to react much better to Caravaggio than Monet. And these are Peruvian penguins, so we were speaking a bit in Spanish, and they really appreciated art history.”
The museum and the zoo examined everything before the visit to make sure it was safe for the birds.
Julian told TIME that he was worried about their visit going smoothly but is pleased that it brought a smile to some people at this time.
He said: "It really brought us joy, and I think it brings the community together when the love of animals and the empathy we feel for them is also reinforced by the love that we feel for art."

FEATURE - Niedliche Häschenbrüder zeigen ihre Frisur
With hair as white as snow and deep, dark eyes, you could easily mistake these three brothers as professional models. But they are in fact three beautiful bunnies who are being cared for by RSPCA staff in Somerset.
Pluto, Mercury and Earth enjoyed being centre of attention for a photoshoot during lockdown at RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre, in Taunton.
The brothers were rescued alongside seven other rabbits after their owner lost interest in them and could no longer meet their needs. They are among thousands of animals being looked after by the RSPCA, which this week launched its emergency appeal as the numbers in its care are set to rise further.
Bel Deering, West Hatch manager, said: “These friendly bunnies could put Beyoncé to shame with their windblown hair and perfect makeup! We wish we all looked this good in the morning!
“Five of the 10 buns have been reserved and will go to their new homes once lockdown is lifted. The other five - including Pluto, Mercury and Earth - are still available and will be
looking for homes when the centre reopens.”

FEATURE - Malteser-Hund Coco erinnert ans Hände- bzw. Pfotenwaschen
It looks like Coco the Maltese dog has heard about the Coronavirus, cleverly recognising the importance of clean paws!
Maltese Coco, lives with her sister, Cici, aka “the troublemaker”, in Scottsdale, Arizona, and has become something a hit on instagram – not just because she’s extremely cute – but also because she prefers to stand on her hind legs and bear her belly.
And, as if that weren’t enough to make you fall in love with her, Coco (along with her sister) is also a registered therapy dog working weekly at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Owner Katee Lauchner says: “The best part of being a therapy dog is seeing the kids’ faces light up with joy when we walk into their rooms; online or in person our goal in life is to spread love and joy.”
About Coco:
I was born on March 21, 2017. My mom started my Instagram in May of 2017. Since that time, we have accumulated more than 223,000 followers from all over the world. We are a popular creator on TikTok with over 1.1 million followers. I'm famous for my pose of, "Sit Pretty" which most people say Paws Up. I love the camera and I'm super food motivated that's how my parents got me to learn so many fun tricks.

Pictures of a holidaying Daschund and a rescued seal pup have gone viral after being posted online.
The pictures show Daschund Stanley and seal pup Aayla, a permanent resident at the Cornish Sea Life Trust Seal Sanctuary, during a somewhat affectionate encounter with each other.
It seems that as soon as Stanley entered the underwater viewing area, he was immediately drawn to Aayla, who in turn seemed equally as excited by her four-legged visitor! In fact, the two spent around 20 minutes flirting with each other.
“Aayla is often found by the underwater viewing area, she absolutely loves interacting with people and dogs,” explained Georgina Shannon of the Sea Life Trust Cornish Seal Sanctuary.
“We are often sent photos from our guests who have captured Aayla interacting with their dogs, so this isn’t the first time she has made friends with a dog, although she seemed to really love Stanley!
“It is likely that Aayla mistook Stanley for another seal as the dachshund was wearing a doggy jacket and a snoot with his ears tucked up inside as it was cold; she began mimicking certain behaviours like waving at the doggo and tilting her head like most dogs do.
“I think she was absolutely fascinated by him!”
Aayla was rescued from Bacton, Norfolk, in January 2017 – she was extremely malnourished and had a nasty infection to her right flipper. As a result, Aalya was rehomed at the sanctuary in 2018.
Talbot, the dachshund’s owner, explained that it felt like they were “friends at first sight.”
Melanie also pointed out that someone told her dachshunds tend to sleep with their legs tucked in, making them look like seals, which could explain why these two pups of a different species, felt right at home with each other!

FEATURE - Koala und Wombat werden in der Isolation im australischen Zoo beste Freunde
**VIDEO AVAILABLE. CONTACT INFO@COVERMG.COM TO RECEIVE.**
A koala and wombat have struck up an unlikely friendship during the coronavirus lockdown.
Elsa the koala and Hope the wombat surprised zookeepers when they became inseparable during a temporary closure of the Australian Reptile Park through April and May.
Elsa and Hope's friendship began when the wombat was allowed into the koala enclosure to enjoy new leaves left by the zoo supervisors.
The marsupials were hand raised by keepers at the Australian Reptile Park which is about an hour north of Sydney.
Curator Hayley Shute said: "Hope is a little ray of sunshine and we just knew the two of them would enjoy getting to know each other.'
"It makes for one cute video that's for sure! It's a very special friendship these two have formed and I can't wait to see it continue to blossom."
Staff at the park said they now refer to the koala and wombat as "lockdown BFFs" and are allowing them to see each other every day.
"Elsa and Hope are great ambassadors for Australian wildlife and our wildlife needs all the help it can get," said Ms Shute.
"Our iconic koala is sadly experiencing a large decline in numbers due, in part, to the tragic bush fires we had earlier this year and they're on the trajectory to be extinct in the wild by 2050."
The Australian Reptile Park has now reopened and is again welcoming visitors as Australia's coronavirus infection rate remains stable at less than 35 new cases a day for more than a month.

12/04/2012.. .Two-week-old Iza...Humpy the camel has lived up to his name by becoming a father a year after he was given the snip - and there's another calf on the way!..Owners of the two-humped six-year-old noticed he was becoming a bit frisky last spring so vets were called to the farm in Ashbourne, Derbyshire to castrate the giant beast...Charlotte Anderson-Dixon, 29, who runs The Animal Company with her husband said: "He was starting to get very excited around the females and very grumpy with us. At the time we had three other camels and we didn't need any more so we had him neutered..."He had the last laugh though as, unbeknown to us, he'd already been up to no-good with two of our three females. .."We noticed Amelia was getting big but we were still surprised when she gave birth two weeks ago. One of the other females is also getting a very big tummy - we think she's also due any day now. .."Camels have a 14 month gestation period - so our females were already expecting by the time Humpy had the snip.".."We've named the little one Iza. She's only two-weeks-old but she's already as tall as me and very inquisitive. We'll start training her as soon as we can - she'll go on to join the others at shows, Christmas fairs and perhaps she'll even having a staring roll in a movie one day..."Our herd are all Bactrian camels - these are the two humped ones which originate from Russian and Mongolia.
