Etan Patz disappearance
June 1979, New York, New York, United States: Within a few days after the disappearance of six-year old Etan Patz, his parents, Stan and Julie Patz, organized meetings in their Soho loft with their neighbors hoping to find clues that would help locate their son. Stan Patz attended the meeting holding his other son in his arms. The boy vanished as he was walking from home to catch his school bus in the morning. In May 2012, after decades of dead-end leads and false hopes among investigators, Pedro Hernandez, a former convenience-store stock clerk, was arrested and confessed to the 1979 slaying. The Etan Patz case helped give rise to the national movement to publicize and find missing and abducted children. The boy was one of the first missing children to appear on a milk carton. Titanic actress Kate Winslet has told how she panicked and was forced into a quick cover up of her nipples when she met Britain’s King Charles for the first time.
The award winning star, 50, was at the royal premiere in London of the big screen adaptation of Jane Austen novel Sense and Sensibility.
Winslet was aged 20 at the time and wearing a see-through dress as Charles, who was then the Prince of Wales, went down the line of cast members being introduced to them.
She is an ambassador for one of Charles’s charities, the King’s Foundation.
Speaking on the Jimmy Kimmel US chat show, she said: “He is a personable individual, but he is the king and uh and it's quite something to meet him.
The first time I met him …..it was a royal premiere of Sense and Sensibility when I was only 20.
“ I sort of hadn't realised that we were really going to meet him.
“And so I forgot about the fact that I really was wearing a kind of a transparent lace outfit.
“And thank God I'd worn a coat because as he's making his way towards me, I'm like ‘nipples, nipples, nipples. Oh my god. ‘
“And then someone just went coat.”
She recalled how she curtsied to him.
She added: “And I went 'your majesty.’
“I'm like basically covering myself in a cape.”
Kimmel joked: “That makes me feel sorry for the king because he's the only one that doesn't get to see nipples, watching everybody curtsy all the time.
“There's no fun in that.”
Winslet was on the show to promote her new movie , Goodbye June, which she also directs about a family gathering for the death of a matriarch.
It was written by her 21-year-old son Joe Mendes , whose dad is movie director Sam Mendes, when he was aged 19 for a college assignment.
