Home appliance giant Dyson is bringing out an expensive pair of headphones — without the air purifying mouthpiece of its previous range.
The OnTrac promises audiophile-level sound with an array of colour and finish combinations.
They come in four base finishes—aluminium, copper, nickel, and cinnabar red.
From there buyers can mix and match outer caps and ear cushions.
UK based Dyson says there are over 2,000 possible combinations.
The company claims best-in-class noise cancellation using eight microphones that sample external noise 384,000 times per second. Battery life is claimed to be 55 hours on a single charge with noise cancelling turned on.
The firm best known for its vacuum cleaners and hand driers, partnered with North American company US Ergonomics to make the OnTrac as comfortable as possible.
This is said to be down to soft cushions, adjustable arms and an even weight distribution.

Home appliance company Dyson plans to ensure no one ever misses a patch of floor when vacuuming.
It is introducing a virtual reality app which can be displayed on a mobile phone
along with a new cleaner that has a bracket to hold the smart device.
The screen shows the area covered by the cleaner and highlights the spots that have been missed.
A spokesperson for the UK company said : “Cleaning can be a thankless task.
“Amid navigating chair legs and under furniture, moving between rooms and sidestepping our furry friends, it’s easy to inadvertently miss areas, or repeatedly vacuum the same spot, reducing efficacy and wasting time.”
Dyson has brought out the Dyson CleanTrace app to pair with its Gen5Detect vacuum cleaner.
The cleaner already shows up dust with an inbuilt light while a filter analyses the material picked up.
The app will now also show where the vacuum has missed.

Home and business electronics company Dyson has unveiled a new hairdryer — which looks like a submarine periscope.
The brand new model, called the Supersonic r is the first dryer since the firm’s iconic Supersonic released in 2016 and is initially aimed at professional stylists working in salons.
The Supersonic r is a tube-shaped hair dryer that weighs just 325g which is almost half that of the original Supersonic.
This weight and size reduction is due to re-engineered heating elements, which allowed engineers to replace the old design's large head with just a bend at the end of the shaft,
The bend resembles a small case letter “r” hence the name.
Miniaturised heating grills consisting of copper microfins are up along the pipe's curve.
This is said to ensure high-pressure airflow is heated evenly with a high precision intelligent heat control to achieve better hair shine.

A hair straightener that relies purely on hot air to smooth out locks has been unveiled by home device company Dyson.
The company says its new Airstrait achieves wet to dry straightening without hot plates or heat damage to follicles.
It is said to have been engineered for multiple hair typesand enable users to achieve a natural straight style, with body and movement, whilst maintaining the strength2 and healthy look and feel of their hair.
Each tress of hair to be dried is contained by two arms, from which a precisely angled high-pressure blade of air is forced downwards.
Along the machine’s arms are two 1.5mm apertures.
Airflow is accelerated through these apertures, creating two high-velocity downward blades of air.
Projected at a 45° angle, they converge to form one focused jet of air, creating the downward force to straighten hair as it dries, with control.
The machine motor, called a Hyperdymium, is small, light and powerful propelling over 11.9 litres of air through the machine per second.
This generates up to 3.5k Pa of air pressure, enough to straighten hair as it dries.

British domestic appliance company Dyson has designed a ventilator and is primed to produce 15,000 units in the coming weeks to help meet the demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic.Named CoVent, the ventilator was developed by the company in only 10 days, after boss Sir James Dyson was among the manufacturers contacted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to help bolster the UK’s National Health Service supply of ventilators. The CoVent is battery-powered, portable and can easily be mounted to a patient's bed, making it suitable for a range of different clinical settings.According to the government, the NHS needs to increase its number of ventilator from 8,175 to 30,000. They are needed in order to accommodate the expected number of Covid-19 patients, who in severe cases of the disease rely on the ventilators to breathe.Given regulatory approval, 10,000 units could be supplied to the UK government.
