US Anti-Doping Agency To Strip Lance Armstrong of 7 Tour Titles
Lance Armstrong has announced he will stop fighting a barrage of drug charges from the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), putting at risk his unparalleled string of seven Tour de France titles and his legacy as one of the greatest sportsmen in history. Armstrong's declaration on Thursday night sets up a likely lifetime ban from the sport and the possibility that he will be stripped of his signature achievement the extraordinary run of Tour titles he won from 1999 to 2005. Silent film The Artist leads Golden Globe Pack
Silent film is taking over Hollywood's awards scene. The silent-era tale "The Artist" heads the Golden Globes with six nominations, among them best comedy or musical, and acting honors for its French stars, Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo. Dujardin, who won the best-actor prize for "The Artist" in its premiere at last May's Cannes Film Festival, was nominated for best actor in a musical or comedy. He plays a silent-film star whose career nosedives as talking pictures take over in the late 1920s in "The Artist," which has virtually no spoken dialogue and is shot in the boxy, black-and-white format of the silent era. File picture of French actor Jean Dujardin poses with his award for Best Performance by an Actor for the film 'The Artist' during the Winners Photocall of the 64th Cannes International Film Festival, at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, southern France on May 22, 2011.
