A F/A-18F Super Hornet plane flying between Brisbane's skyscrapers in Australia as part of a flying display
Sunsuper Riverfire festival, Brisbane, Australia - 28 Sep 2019
Incredible photos show a huge RAAF cargo plane flying close to Brisbane’s skyscrapers in Australia as part of an annual festival. Photographer Adrian Wedderburn captured pictures of the massive military aircraft swooping over Brisbane River and by the city’s skyscrapers. The C-17A cargo plane can be seen squeezing between the high-rise buildings in Brisbane as part of the Sunsuper Riverfire festival, which celebrates the end of the city’s annual three-week arts event. The RAAF said the pilots had practised the stunt a number of times in a simulator and also in the plane before flying over the crowds at the festival. The aircraft was actually around 100 metres away from the buildings. The festival included spectacular fireworks, as well as the aircraft display, which also featured a low-flying F/A-18F Super Hornet.

    Lightning on the High Seas
    LIGHTNING ON THE HIGH SEAS

A life on the high seas with the US Navy can mean adventure and exotic ports of call, but being in the middle of the ocean can leave you at the mercy of the elements.

And these jaw-dropping images show what lightning looks like from the deck of a warship.

Military photographers Jon Husman and Elliott Fabrizio captured the brilliant bolts of electricity as witnessed from the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis on a scheduled six-month deployment to the western Pacific Ocean.

While Todd A. Schaffer shot a storm over the Norfolk navy base in Virginia.

The USS Theodore Roosevelt Anchored in the Solent, Britain - 08 Apr 2009
She's known as the 'big stick' and giant American aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt has certainly made a big impression. The gigantic nuclear warship arrived in Stokes Bay in Gosport on Saturday for a short stay, along with the 4,800 sailors on board. The ship is so huge that she can't anchor in Portsmouth Harbour because the water is too shallow. Due to this, the Nimitz-class ship is anchored one mile from the coast of Stokes Bay and she will remain there until Wednesday.
