    CHINA-WTO ENTRY-TEN YEARS-AUTO INDUSTRY (CN)
(111011) -- CHANGCHUN, Oct. 11, 2011 (Xinhua) -- Photo taken on Aug. 22, 2011 shows workers working in the assembly line for new energy vehicles in a FAW-Volkswagen plant in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.
When China's FAW (First Auto Works) Group made China's first automobile in 1956, Chinese people could probably hardly image that they could own their own cars within a few decades.
However In 2009, China overtook the United States as the world's largest auto market after vehicle sales hit 13.6 million units that year.
Since China joined the WTO (World Trade Organization) in 2001, its auto industry has experienced a major turning point and a fast growth.
As abided by the WTO rule, China's tariff on imported cars dropped from some 80 percent in 2001 to an average of 13.4 percent currently. Such a move enabled an open and flourishing market in China.
Accordingly decreasing car prices made more and more ordinary Chinese people able to afford their private cars and enjoy a lifestyle that once they could only image in western movies or advertisement.
Among the cars sold, Chinese brands and its joint-ventures become a popular choice for its relatively higher cost performance.
As stimulated by a booming demand, China's auto production saw a dramatic rise, from 2.07 million units in 2002 to 18 million units in 2010, a nine-time growth in the past nine years.
In an open and high competitive market, some China's car makers realized the technological innovation could win them an edge in new eras. For example China FAW Group, one of the country's largest automakers, debuted two new hybrid bus models at the eighth China Automobile Fair currently held in Changchun this July.
Also China's merging car makers are active to explore overseas markets as they try to dance with tide. On Oct. 8, 2011, China's JAC Motors announced it will invest 500 million U.S. dollars in its first overseas plant, which

CHINA-XINHAI REVOLUTION-THE RISE OF ASIA (CN)
(111008) -- BEIJING, Oct. 8, 2011 (Xinhua) -- The phalanx of national flag receives inspection in a parade of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, on Chang'an Avenue in central Beijing, capital of China, Oct. 1, 2009.

At present, Asia is playing a significant role in the word which no one can ignore. The emerging economies like China and India, have been the most active growth pole of global economy. Financial Times has said, the shift of economic and geopolitical clout towards the East, symbolized by the rise of China, is part of a border movement of capital, innovation and economic muscle to Asia.

However, the situation was totally different in the 19th century, nearly all the Asia was in humiliation and poverty. Following the Opium War of 1840, China gradually became a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, and foreign powers stepped up their aggression against China. The feudal rule became increasingly corrupt, the country was devastated by incessant wars and turbulence, and the Chinese people suffered from hunger and oppression.

In 1911, protests and armed uprisings took place across China against the monarchy of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). These events led to the toppling of the country's last emperor and the founding of the Republic of China on Jan. 1, 1912.

The Xinhai Revolution in 1911 led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen put an end to the autocratic rule that had existed in China for several thousand years, and gave birth to Asia's first republic. Many countries of the continent were greatly influenced by the Xinhai Revolution and met a wave of national liberation and independence. Russian revolutionary and socialist leader Vladimir Lenin praised the revolution "the awakening of Asia".

This revolution greatly boosted China's social progress, all the Chinese people were awakened at the fact of mind, and the ideas of democracy
