AstraZeneca unveils The Discovery Centre (DISC) in Cambridge
    Image at the centre.
Little expense has been spared at the giant glass and steel structure that sprouts from a once-vacant plot of land on the outskirts of Cambridge.
AstraZeneca’s £1bn new research and development centre houses 16 labs and 2,200 scientists, making it the biggest science lab in Britain along with the Francis Crick Institute in London, and the pharmaceutical company’s biggest single site investment to date. Designed by the Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the Discovery Centre (Disc) covers an area the size of eight football pitches, and is part of Europe’s biggest biomedical cluster. Cambridge University, two hospitals and hundreds of research institutions and biotech firms are nearby. The building is flooded with natural light, captures its heat from the ground beneath, and its toilets are flushed with rain water.

    24th July 2021

The historic first-ever ìReclaim Prideî march ñ a ìPeopleís Pride march for LGBTI+ liberationî organised by Peter Tatchell.

The Reclaim Pride march replaces the traditional Pride in London parade, which has been postponed until 11 September, amid allegations of racism, bullying, commercialisation and straying from the roots and values of Pride.

Reclaim Pride is being sponsored by UK Black Pride, Diva magazine, Lesbian Visibility Week, London Trans Pride, the Peter Tatchell Foundation and Stand Up To LGBTQ+ Hate Crime and many other LGBTI+ organisations and allies.

This community-led Pride march gets back to the roots of Pride, being both a celebration and a protest for LGBT+ rights, with five key LGBTI+ liberation demands:

Pictured is Wing Commander Lee Roberts, Officer Commanding LXX Squadron (70 Sqn) standing Infront of an A400M at Brize Norton before the delivery of AstraZeneca vaccine to Ascension Island.

Earlier this week, an RAF A400M aircraft transported doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine to Ascension Island ñ a UK Overseas Territories in the South Atlantic Ocean.

Due to its remote location and small population of just over 800 contractors and military personnel, it will become the first island to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Delivered on behalf of the FCDO, the delivery reaffirms the UK Governmentís commitment to supporting its Overseas Territories.
