  • Une guitare ayant appartenue à George Harrison (The Beatles) a été vendue pour 1.27 million de dollars

Une guitare ayant appartenue à George Harrison (The Beatles) a été vendue pour 1.27 million de dollars
Picture MUST credit: Julien’s Auctions A guitar owned by Beatle George Harrison for the band’s first groundbreaking residencies in the German port of Hamburg, has sold for $1.27 million USD / €1.21 million euros at auction The Czech-made solid body 1958 Resonet Futurama in a sunburst finish was described as “one of the holy grails of historic Beatles guitars” and was used on over 324 gigs by Harrison. It was his go-to instrument as the embryonic group became the house band at two Hamburg clubs between 1960 and 1961. The auction price of exactly $1,270,000 USD , with 16 bids, was twice the estimated sale value when it went under the hammer at US saleroom Julien’s Auctions on November er 20. Julien’s executive director Martin Nolan said: “George Harrison’s iconic Futurama guitar, one of the most important guitars in rock and roll history and formative to The Beatles’ sound, has made history at today’s auction. “We’re beyond thrilled to add this Harrison guitar to the Julien’s Auctions million-dollar club, which already includes guitars from John Lennon, Eric Clapton, and Kurt Cobain.” In 1964, at the height of worldwide Beatlemania, Harrison donated the guitar to the UK magazine Beat Instrumental as a competition prize. The winner decided to take cash instead of the instrument which then stayed with the magazine’s editor Sean O'Mahony. It’s lowest pre-sale estimate was $600,000 USD / €569.750. Une guitare de George Harrison devrait rapporter au moins 1 million de dollars lors d'une prochaine vente aux enchères
Picture MUST credit: Julien’s Auctions A guitar owned by Beatle George Harrison for the band’s first groundbreaking residencies in the German port of Hamburg, is expected to fetch at least $1 million at a forthcoming auction. Described as “one of the holy grails of historic Beatles guitars” the Czech-made solid body Futurama, was used on over 324 gigs by Harrison as the embryonic group became the house band at two clubs between 1960 and 1961. In 1964, at the height of Beatlemania around the world, Harrison donated the guitar to the UK’s Beat Instrumental Magazine as a competition prize. The winner decided to take a cash prize rather than the guitar which then stayed with the magazine’s editor Sean O'Mahony. It is tipped to exceed its estimate of $600,000-$800,000 USD / €543.650 - €724.900 euros when it comes under the hammer at US sale room Julien’s Auctions in Nashville, Tennessee later this year. Until then it will be on show as part of the Beatles Story official exhibition in the band’s home town of Liverpool from today until October 17th before making other stops in Europe. The guitar is a 1958 Resonet Futurama in a sunburst finish. A Julien’s spokesperson said: “This Futurama was George Harrison's most-played guitar in the early days of The Beatles. “It used on over 324 Beatle performances including the band’s early Cavern Club shows in Liverpool and on their legendary Hamburg dates in 1960 and 1961 . Liverpool venue that hosted some of the Beatles' earliest gigs turned into Airbnb.
Fans can stay at the Casbah Coffee Club where the Quarrymen, who became the Beatles, had a residency.

The Casbah Coffee Club, owned by the mother of the band's original drummer, Pete Best, is where it all began for the Fab Four. She purchased the building after winning a bet and gave the Quarrymen - the precursor band to the Beatles - a residency.

And now, what was once also the Best family home in West Derby has been turned into holiday flats - available to rent on Airbnb by Beatles fans the world over.

The Casbah Club in West Derby, Liverpool, where the Beatles started their career, has opened as an Airbnb with bedroom suits named after all five band members. Original Beatles drummer Pete Best, whose mother Mona ran the club, has launched the new venture with his brother Roag.
