A game jersey worn by US baseball legend Babe Ruth has become the most expensive piece of sports memorabilia after being sold for more than $24 million USD.

The final price New York Yankees jersey Ruth wore in Game 3 of the 1932 World Series was $24,120,000 / €20.728.250 euros and followed a six hours bidding war.

The jersey was snapped up by a private collector who has remained anonymous.

The price achieved by US auction house Heritage Auctions knocks fellow Yankees legend Mickey Mantle out of the record books, where he’d been since August 2022.

That’s when Heritage sold a high-grade example of Mantle’s iconic 1952 Topps card for $12.6 million USD €11.3 million euros.

A Star Wars action figure has set a new world record of more than $1.3 million USD — beating the price set just months for a different version of the same toy.

The price was for one of rarest and most famous Star Wars character figures, Ka prototype for a rocket-firing action figure of bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Back in June it made collecting history when it became the most valuable vintage toy ever sold, going for $525,000 USD / €474.200 euros.

Now, its record has been taken by an even rarer version of the same figure.

The new record was achieved by US sale room Goldin Auctions.

It confirmed it had had sold an extremely rare iteration of the infamous prototype at public auction for $1.342 million USD / €1.21 million euro s to become the most valuable vintage toy in the world.

The version sold by Goldin was a “J-slot” iteration of the prototype by US toy company Kenner

It was a more-limited alternate version of a rocket-firing mechanism on Boba Fett’s backpack that never made it to release.

'I feel like I've been run over by a tank': Scottish woman breaks world sheep-shearing record
Una Cameron has sheared 517 sheep in a feat of athletic endurance to rival those of any Team GB Olympian.

On Wednesday, Cameron, 51, shattered a world sheep-shearing record at a farm in Cornwall, cropping a remarkable 517 sheep in nine hours - an effort described by one expert as the equivalent of running two marathons back to back.

Speaking the morning after, Cameron said she, unsurprisingly, felt "like I've been run over by a tank ... I am sore. My body hurts in places I didn't know I had."

A Star Wars action figure has sold for a world record auction price for a toy from the movie franchise of over half a million dollars.

The prototype of bounty hunter Boba Fett went for $525,000 USD / €483.580 euros after an online bidding war.

That was more than double the previous record of $236,000 USD / €217.380

The toy, known as the "L-Slot" variant, is particularly desirable because it was never mass-produced.

Makers feared a rocket firing mechanisation could be a choking hazard for children.

The 9.25 cm tall prototype of the rocket-firing action figure was from US-based toy maker Kenner's 1979 Star Wars line.

The figure was expected to be released in 1980 for the second ever Star Wars movie, The Empire Strikes Back.

The figure was put on display at the 1979 New York Toy Fair but it never made its way into the market.

The world record figure was sold by US based Heritage Auctions based in Dallas, Texas.
