Picture MUST credit: Paramount
A fedora hat worn by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the Last Crusade movie has sold for €195,000 USD / €168.200 euros — after being expected to sell for no more than €4,000 USD / €3.470 euros.
Ford is seen in the hat for an early opening scene of the 1989 adventure aboard a storm-battered ship.
The hat was washed off Ford’s head and was salvaged by his stunt double Jim Dowdall.
A wave rushes over Indy's head, and the hat flattens.
It was at that point that it was retained by Dowdall who left it to dry in its flattened state.
The brown felt fedora was made by London based milliner Herbert Johnson which made hats for the British royal family and was said to show signs of moisture damage from the storm filming.
A letter of provenance from Dowdall accompanied the sale at US specialist showbiz auction house Julien’s Auctions on June 20.
He wrote: “This hat was specifically worn by Harrison in the water based scenes on board the boat at the start of the film.
“During filming it was knocked / washed off his head into the water, from where I retrieved it and retained it."
The prop holy grail chalice prop from The Last Crusade seen at the film’s climax, sold for $45,500 USD / €39.480 euros.
Julien’s entertainment managing director Catherine Williamson said: “Today’s collectors aren’t just acquiring artefacts—they’re preserving the stories and artistry that continue to inspire generations.”

La veste Grease d'Olivia Newton-John vendue pour près d'un demi-million de dollars
Picture MUST credit: Julien’s Auctions The iconic black leather jacket worn by late actress and singer Olivia Newton John in the hit movie Grease has sold for $476,250 USD / €453.485 euros at auction. British-born Olivia, who died in 1922 aged 73, wore it for the number You’re The One That I Want opposite co-star John Travolta in the 1978 big screen musical. Her nice girl character Sandy dresses in leathers including skin tight pants to win over Travolta’s character Danny in the movie, set in a 1950s US high school. The song went on to become a worldwide hit selling millions around the globe. This jacket went for six times the pre-sale estimate of $80,000 USD / €76.175 euros at Hollywood sale room Julien’s Auctions. It was originally sold by Julien's in 2019 when Olivia put it up for sale at a charity auction of her showbiz property for $243,200 USD. A Julien’s spokesperson explained: “It was a bittersweet moment for her but -- but what she didn't know at the time was that the buyer was going to give the jacket back to her. “He and the team at Julien's met the star at her home in California where it was returned to her in a moving tribute.” The jacket was back at Julien's due to her death from breast cancer, which she bravely fought for many decades. The spokesperson described the Grease jacket as Olivia’s “most iconic career item and one of the most famous jackets of all time.“ ends Picture supplied by JLPPA
