The picture shows El ChaltZn taken by Francisco Javier Negroni Rodriguez, aged 45, in Argentina. He said: 'An hour before taking this photograph I was walking along the trails that surround the beautiful rock formation known as El ChaltZn in Argentina, the day was very cloudy, apparently luck was not with me on this adventure. The climate in Patagonia is somewhat unpredictable, it changes every moment and the wind is so strong that it quickly moves the clouds. Only at times could the figure of the massif be distinguished. My hope was focused on getting to a place from where I could wait very patiently for the weather to help me and give me a window of good weather at sunset to be able to take some photos, but nature surprised me. It was incredible! Only for a moment the clouds allowed me to see El ChaltZn and to my surprise there was a spectacular and brilliant lenticular cloud with a beautiful and perfect figure that I had never seen. The 26 finalists for this year's Weather Photographer of the Year have been announced and the public are being invited to vote for their favourite. The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), which celebrates its 170th birthday this year, in association with AccuWeather, has put the shortlisted pictures on their website and people can visit photocrowd.com/wpotyvote to vote until September 2.

Australia's scenic splendour comes in all shapes and sizes, from its valleys and beaches to the Sydney Opera House's white sails.

There's not a kangaroo or koala in sight in this different, beautiful vision of what Australia is all about for some. Instead, this photo series captures breath-taking moments during adventures - including an exquisite shot of horsemen galloping through fog.

Astronaut Scott Kelly's best pictures from year in space - 2016

As the two year-long inhabitants of the International Space Station touch back down to Earth near the town of Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 (Kazakh time), we select the best images snapped from space by Commander Scott Kelly of NASA.

The Soyuz TMA-18M spacecraft returned with Expedition 46 Commander Kelly of NASA and Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov. Kelly and Kornienko completed an International Space Station record year-long mission to collect valuable data on the effect of long duration weightlessness on the human body that will be used to formulate a human mission to Mars.

This young bear looks as if it wants to be on Strictly Come Dancing.

Wildlife photographer Mark Sisson spotted the coastal brown bear making some funky shapes - seemingly for the benefit of a pair of nonchalant gulls.

Mark, from Newport, Shropshire, snapped the hilarious sequence in Alaska in September.

It shows the cub up on its hind legs and making a disco-friendly circular motion with its left paw - twice. Or a "special shimmy" as Mark describes it.

Bizarrely, Mark captured a European brown bear cub performing a Gangnam Style dance two years ago (Pics also supplied).

Just Days To Go: Pictures Show Russian Olympic City Not Ready
With just days to go until the start of the Sochi winter Olympics, these pictures suggest the city is not ready for the showcase event.

The shocking pictures by local journalist Alexander Valov depict the area around the Sochi Olympic Park in an unfinished state.

Documenting the progress of construction and infrastructure works while walking around the immediate area of the Olympic Park on 23 January, Mr Valov found numerous cases where he claims works had not been finished.

From his observations, he suggests that volunteer accommodation was still without electricity and sewage systems, pathways laid directly onto soil have already failed and have had to be hastily patched up, grass landscaping has been been laid incorrectly and dried up, litter and construction debris blight the area and open manholes on pathways are covered in flimsy wooden covers.

However Alexander suggests that an area he believes will be used by President Vladimir Putin has been prioritised: "It is natural for Putin to make the place where he will ape in front of video cameras and, of course, it is closed to mere mortals," he says.

Describing his tour, Alexander said: "Today (23 Jan), 15 days before the start of the Games, I walked to Imerati Valley, the site of the Olympic Park, which in the official pictures looks just fine, but the reality is far more prosaic: walkways laid for the Olympics, already collapsing, construction workers and a contactless current arena, repairs have no end. Construction debris and household garbage are a common occurrence to the areas adjacent to the Olympic Park as there...

WINEHOUSE FORCED TO COVER UP EXPLICIT TATTOO FOR GRAMMYS

Apparently, the organisers of this year's Grammy Awards weren't just concerned about singer Amy Winehouse's drug use, but her risqué tattoos too.

The Back to Black singer had to get creative with a black eyeliner pencil before her performance via satellite in order cover up a tattoo featuring a naked woman.

So as not to offend any of America's more 'puritanical viewers', Amy drew a black bikini top on a tattoo of a buxom topless woman that she has on her left arm.

Something she was able to wash straight off following her performance.

Winehouse, 24, scooped five awards at the event including Best New Artist and Song of the Year.

She has recently been receiving treatment for substance abuse after being caught on camera apparently using crack cocaine.

However, with the singer's recent emergence from rehab as a seemingly happier and healthier person, it would seem that the soul sensation is cleaning up her act in more ways than one.
