REPORTAGE - Müllsammler in der Mongolei
February 17, 2016 - Ulaanbataar, Mongolia: Tsagaadabaa garbage dump in Ulaanbaatar. There are 200 scavengers working at the dumpsite earning a living off of recycling and sorting the garbage. They earn about $10 per day. Many are nomads that have lost their animals in the countryside and have moved to the capital in search of work. The government gives each Mongolian a piece of land of their choosing to live on. Many nomads now live in the capital in search of stable work and income. Mongolia has a population of 3 million people while 45% of them live in UlaanBataar. During the winter time, homes and buildings are heated with coal and wood, causing pollution problems.
