Le jeu Powerwash Simulator de chez FuturLab booste le bien-être
Pictures must credit: FuturLab Boffins have revealed that a video game in which players have to power wash a range of dirty objects improves the mood Volunteers were asked to play the eponymous PowerWash Simulator. The study showed an improvement in the moods of more than 70% of its participants. Independent researchers from the UK's Oxford Internet Institute collaborated with British game studio FuturLab which issued the powerwash game in 2022, A custom edition of PowerWash Simulator included a few tweaks to survey players' moods. By gathering data from 8,695 players across 67,328 play sessions, they recorded a mood “uplift” during play among 72% of participants particularly during the first 15 minutes. In the game a player uses a power wash to spray down a building or vehicle or some other large object that needs cleaning. The research edition recorded game play events, game status records, participant demographics, and players' responses to psychological survey items. Owners of the game were able to get a free copy of the Research Edition and earn bonus in-game items for participating in the study. Players could easily self-report their state with something called the Visual Analogue Scale. © FuturLab via JLPPA/Bestimage

Light therapy glasses to banish winter blues

A pair of special therapy glasses use blue to beat away the winter blues.
The Luminette light therapy glasses are said to help balance the body’s natural rhythms by curbing excess sleep hormone melatonin and promoting mood boosting serotonin.
They sit above the eyes shining light down into the eyes.
Light therapy works by readjusting the body's internal clock, which regulates sleep, wake time, meal, and other functions.
When your eyes are exposed to ambient light, this clock is informed, allowing it to synchronise body cycles with the natural day-night cycle.
Without enough bright light cues, these rhythms fall out of sync, leading to sleep problems, grogginess, moodiness, and other aggravating symptoms.
Light therapy delivers a concentrated dose of light directly to the eyes and brain.
This convinces our internal clock that we have received adequate sunlight exposure, prompting it to reset.
As a result, our sleep-wake cycle realigns, and levels of sleep-related hormones such as melatonin rebalance.
Luminette shines an LED light beam into the eyes, naturally just like the sun, without dazzling or obscuring vision.
