Army Air Corps AH64 Apache conducts dust landings while deployed to RAFO Musannah as part of Ex PINION OMAN 21.
Force elements from across the 1st Aviation Brigade Combat Team (1AvnBCT) recently deployed on Exercise PINION OMAN 21 (ExPO21) to conduct essential desert environmental training and live firing prior to supporting 1 (UK) Division on Exercise KHANJAR OMAN 21. The training and qualifications also ensure lead elements of 1AvnBCT who are held are Extremely High Readiness are equipped to react to a multitude of potential threats, able to deploy globally as well as support standing operational commitments in the homeland.
In order to support the deployment, maintain serviceability and readiness of the aircraft, personnel from the Army Air Corps, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Royal Logistics Corps, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy work day and night in challenging conditions to conduct vital maintenance, repair, refuel and support. These personnel are the vital enablers which assure that each aircraft is maintained to the highest standard and set the conditions for the aircrew to continuingly fly in some of the harshest conditions in the world.© UK MOD Crown copyright / eyevine

Prince Harry has returned from duty serving as an Apache helicopter pilot in Afghanistan, only to find himself in the firing line of the British and international press.
His arguably flippant remarks in an interview, stating that he had killed Taliban fighters and that his fighting skills on games consoles had translated well into his helicopter attack skills, have caused uproar from a Taliban spokesman and raised a few eyebrows in Britain of those who believe he has made himself even more of a target for insurgents than he was before. Others have bemoaned his apparent glamorisation of killing and belittling of life as something that can be extinguished from afar at the touch of a button.

Each year, crews are selected for their expertise and skills in flying and operating the Apache, and have a considerable amount of operational experience, mainly from Afghanistan, and also Libya. The AHDT is not an aerobatic team and therefore does not require enhanced flight authorisations; instead, the operational aircrew have been thoroughly trained to perform manoeuvres within the Release to Services of the Apache helicopter at annual Air Shows.

British soldiers from the Black Watch regiment wait by their Warrior armoured vehicles for orders to advance for the final assault on the southern Iraqi city of Basra, early morning, April 6, 2003. The regiment, part of the Desert Rats (7th Armoured Brigade), was heavily involved in the day's action. The assault achieved its goal and by the evening the city was in British hands. Prince Harry has been spotted out and about in London celebrating his return from Afghanistan. On Saturday night, just three days after his return, the Prince hit the town with friends and was seen stocking up at a local supermarket. It was then onto an all night house party in Fulham with a bleary-eyed Harry leaving the next morning at around 10.30. Dressed casually in jeans, a check shirt and a baseball cap the Prince was picked up in a black range rover by his royal protection officers who had been patiently waiting outside. Harry is currently on leave following his 20-week deployment in Afghanistan.

Putting the recent nude photos scandal behind him, Prince Harry has been deployed to Afghanistan for four months. The 27-year-old, who is third in line to the throne, will fly Apache attack helicopters in combat missions against the Taliban. Captain Wales, as he is known in the military, previously spent 10 weeks in Helmand province in 2007-08 but was pulled out after media blackout on his secret deployment was broken. Harry is the first member of the Royal Family to see active combat since his uncle Prince Andrew fought in the Falklands war. The Prince qualified as an Apache helicopter pilot back in February after 18 months of training.
