100 BRITISH BRIDES ARRIVE IN AUSTRALIA BY AIRCRAFT CARRIER - CARRYING HIS BRIDE ACROSS THE DECK.
When the aircraft carrier "Indefatigable" docked in Sydney, Australia, she carried instead of aircraft, more than 100 British brides of Australian servicemen who had travelled from England to join their husbands. All the brides had a good trip and had no complaints to make about their "liner".Many excited husbands rushed aboard to claim their wives, and the first husband to arrive was "chaired" along the deck by the brides, in token of their appreciation of his enterprise.
Phote Shows: Lieutenant V J Tapper RAN, first husband to come aboard the "Indefatigable" at sydney, is chaired along the deck by the newly arrived brides.
