Konsequenzen gab es am Freitag auch für zwei Wiener Moscheen, in denen sich der Attentäter seine radikalislamistische Ideologie angeeignet haben soll. Es handelt sich um die Tewhid-Moschee in Meidling und die berüchtigte Melit-Ibrahim-Moschee in der Ottakringer Hasnerstraße, in der sich etwa auch der Bombenbastler Lorenz K. radikalisiert hatte.
Formell gesehen ist die Einrichtung in der Hasnerstraße aber keine Moschee, sondern nur ein Verein, zumal sie nicht von der Islamischen Glaubensgemeinschaft in Österreich (IGGÖ) als solche anerkannt ist. Das Innenministerium hat daher ein Verfahren zur Vereinsauflösung eingeleitet.
Die Meidlinger Tehwid-Moschee hatte hingegen seit 2016 das Gütesiegel der IGGÖ. Das Kultusamt unter Ministerin Susanne Raab (ÖVP) ist aber nun zu dem Ergebnis gekommen, dass dort nicht die vom Islamgesetz geforderte positive Grundeinstellung zum österreichischen Staat und der Gesellschaft gelebt wird. Daher wurde kurzerhand die Schließung der Moschee angeordnet. Man wolle den Nährboden hasserfüllter Ideologie bekämpfen, sagte Raab. Die türkisen Minister müssen nun hoffen, dass ihre Vorgangsweise die kommenden Wochen auch juristisch überlebt. Denn bereits 2018 wurde von der ÖVP-FPÖ-Regierung medienwirksam die Schließung von Moscheen verkündet, die spornstreichs wieder aufsperren durften, weil ihre Auflösung bei Gericht nicht standhielt.
