The Brigade Major's Review at Horseguards Parade, Westminster, London, UK. 1st June 2023.
The Brigade Major's Review at Horseguards Parade, Westminster, London, UK.
1st June 2023.
1,500 soldiers and 300 horses from the Household Division parade for inspection by the Brigade Major of the Household Division, James Shaw, on Horse Guards Parade.
The Brigade Major's Review is the opportunity for the Brigade Major of the Household Division to review the troops and ensure that they are of the required standard in a private rehearsal before the two subsequent reviews which are attended by the public: The Major General's Review conducted by Major General Christopher Ghika on Saturday 3rd June and The Colonel's Review on Saturday conducted by HRH The Prince of Wales on Saturday 10th June ahead of the King's first official Birthday Parade itself on Saturday 17th June.
For the first time in more than thirty years, the regiments taking part will include all five regiments of the Foot Guards: Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards. Also on parade will be the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment made up of The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals who together will provide the Sovereign's Escort; and The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery who on the day of The King's official Birthday will fire His Birthday Salute after the parade in the Green Park.
The honour to Troop their Colour on the Birthday Parade falls this year to the Welsh Guards. The King was Colonel Welsh Guards for more than 50 years before he handed responsibility to his son in December 2022, and He held the title of Prince of Wales for 65 years.
