1931 Brough Superior SS80 de luxe, (c1931?). Brough's Nottingham-built machines were advertised as being the 'Rolls-Royce' of motorcycles. Expensive and powerful, they were mostly handmade, many powered by JAP (JA Prestwich) engines, and some by Matchless. This one, powered by a 4 cam JAP engine, is being ridden by PC Wilfred Pepper of the Nottinghamshire police. 1931 Brough Superior SS80 de luxe, (c1931?).

James Hunt in McLaren-Ford M23, Brands Hatch, Kent, 1977. Formula 1 World Champion James Hunt in action during the Race of Champions in 1977. Hunt won the race and set a new lap record for the 4.2 kilometre (2.1 mile) circuit at 190.9 kph (118.38 mph). The charismatic British driver won 10 Grands Prix after suffering with uncompetitive cars early in his career, and in 1976 secured the World Drivers' Championship. He retired after the 1979 Monaco Grand Prix, and was best remembered afterwards for his partnership with Murray Walker in the BBC Grand Prix commentary box. Joseph Stalin, Russian Bolshevik Leader, during the Russian Civil War, c1919. Born Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, Stalin (1879-1953) became General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party in 1922, and after the death of Lenin in 1924, effectively became ruler of the Soviet Union. Stalin's rule saw massive social and economic upheaval. Soviet Russia was transformed into a major economic and military power, but millions died as a result of agricultural collectivization, political repression and in the struggle against Nazi Germany in the Second World War. Found in the collection of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive, Krasnogorsk.
