Fan killed and 20 injured by scaffold collapse at Linkin Park concert, Cape Town, South Africa - 07 Nov 2012
A fan of US rockers Linkin Park has been killed and a further 20 injured following a scaffold collapse at a concert in South Africa. The incident occurred while fans were waiting to enter the concert at a stadium in Cape Town. High winds reportedly cause an advertising hoarding, which had been certified as safe by structural engineers, to collapse. The concert went ahead as planned while around a dozen people had to be taken to hospital. A female fan later died of her injuries. The band has expressed their "deep sadness and concern for those injured and our heartfelt condolences to the family of the fan who died as a result of her injuries".
