An M1 Abrams tank from 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas fires a 120mm round during a live fire exercise at Iron Union 18-6 in the United Arab Emirates, Jan. 23, 2018. Iron Union is a recurring exercise focusing on combined arms, security, and staff operations. It is designed to strengthen military-to-military relations between the U.S. and the UAE land forces. It is an excellent training opportunity for both countries to build tactical proficiency in critical mission areas, gain an understanding of each other's forces, and support long-term regional stability. NATO Leaders meeting marking 70 years of the Alliance
The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson hosts the NATO leaders Meeting at The Grove in Watford today, the 4th December 2019.
This meeting marks 70 years of the NATO alliance.
Established in 1949 with 12 founding members, NATO is now an alliance of 29 countries. At the heart of NATO is collective defence, set out in Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, NATO’s founding Treaty. The UK is one of NATO’s 12 founding members and London was home to its first headquarters.

CH47 asset rotation. Oshkosh redeployment following a reduction from full night stop to a day tasking. Excellent effort from all parties, TSW, 1AMW, 99Sqn ALM, Op NEWCOMBE DLG, Op NEWCOMBE CH47 Engineers. TSW were able to, at very short notice provide, the C17 with an uplift of fuel from the online Oshkosh, whilst simultaneously on-loading the returning Oshkosh. Fantastic flexibility enabled the return of a high profile asset, against a challenging timeframe. This task highlights the “can do” attitude found within the Logistics Branch and Trades.

Soldiers from C Squadron Light Dragoons board Polish helicopters whilst on deployment in Poland.
Demonstrating the good working relationship with the Polish Armed Forces and NATO, Polish Helicopters provided lift to move the students 600km from BPTA to their exercise area in DPTA, Western Poland. The PNCO Course is an arduous and demanding right of passage required by all junior ranks to promote to LCpl.
Soldiers from C Squadron, Light Dragoons, are in Poland on OPERATION CABRIT, as part of NATO's Enhanced Forward Presence.
Around 140 soldiers from the Light Dragoons and attachments from other parts of the armed forces make up 'Legion Troop' - the reconnaissance asset of Battlegroup Poland. They are working alongside soldiers from the U.S, Romania, Croatia and Poland.

As part of the UK’s contribution in delivering on our NATO commitment of Tailored Assurance Measures to Turkey, IX(B) Sqn Typhoons based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, spent 3 days exercising alongside the Turkish Airforce F16s at the 3rd Main Jet base, Konya.
Operating away from the home base offers a range of training opportunities for the aircrew as well as those in support roles; aircraft engineers formed the bulk of the detachment, but equally important were the logistics, ops, movements, security and media personnel all of whom had vital roles to play to ensure the success of the visit.
For the pilots, flying alongside other nations provides an invaluable insight to each-other’s tactics and procedures. During the week, each of the pilots got to fly against their Turkish counterparts in 1 v 1 Air Combat missions gaining a greater understanding of each other’s capabilities.
The Typhoons arrived in Konya on the 16th Nov supported a Voyager aircraft from RAF Brize Norton, which provided Air-to Air Refuelling for the 6-hour sortie across Europe from RAF Lossiemouth. RAF Personnel and Typhoons have conducted a week of training in Turkey as part of a package of the NATO Alliance’s assurance measures to one of its key allies.
As part of the UK’s contribution in delivering on our NATO commitment of Tailored Assurance Measures to Turkey, IX(B) Sqn Typhoons based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, spent 3 days exercising alongside the Turkish Airforce F16s at the 3rd Main Jet base, Konya.
Operating away from the home base offers a range of training opportunities for the aircrew as well as those in support roles; aircraft engineers formed the bulk of the detachment, but equally important were the logistics, ops, movements, security and media personnel all of whom had vital roles to play to ensure the success of the visit.

RN Flies crucial disaster relief sorties in Honduras to support the US Military

RN Flies crucial sorties in Honduras to support the United States military in ongoing disaster relief efforts.
The Royal Navy recently deployed RFA Argus to the north east coast of the Central American nation to support the United States military in the ongoing disaster relief efforts.
The support ship is being used as a ‘lily pad’ by US Army Chinooks to drop aid supplies ashore, while the embarked air group of three Merlin helicopters and a Wildcat have been flying crucial information-gathering sorties over ravaged areas.
Pilots and aircrew from 845 and 815 Naval Air Squadrons are conducting reconnaissance flights, using their helicopters’ powerful sensors and specialist equipment to collect information.
