Artist Danny Quirk uses liquid latex and Sharpie markers to make anatomical body paintings.
Graphic Body Art Will Get Under Your Skin

An artist has set out to show audiences what's really under his skin with his elaborate anatomical body illustrations.

Painting life-like muscles and ligaments across human skin, Danny Quirk's recreation of the human body opened up, shows that beauty is more than skin deep.

Danny's unique body art is created by applying liquid latex on to the skin, drawing out the anatomy with Sharpie pens and painting it with acrylics, sometimes taking up to nine hours to complete.

When it's finished, the designs simply peel off.

Inspired from the recent creation of his girlfriend's deathlike Halloween costume, the 25-year-old from Massachusetts, continued to use liquid latex and Sharpie markers to create anatomical drawings after her 'costume' went viral.

Anatomical themes appear often in his work, his second primary theme is capturing them in watercolours.

The series called 'Self Dissection' feature both men and women coolly stretching and unzipping pockets of flesh to expose their bones and organs underneath.

"I make the paintings with the notion of educating others and giving them something visually stimulating to look at.

"They aren't meant to be morbid but rather educational and aesthetic," explained Danny.
