Pink Cat handed in to the RSPCA, Swindon, Britain - 24 Sep 2010
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Solent News / Rex Features ( 1228321c )
'Pink' the cat, as he was handed in, The RSPCA is trying to trace the owner of a cat which was dyed pink and then thrown over a garden fence in Swindon. The young adult female cat, thought to be aged one-to-two-years-old, was collected by the RSPCA and taken to a local on-call vet where she was found to be in good health. She was given an initial wash at the vets, which removed some of the colour. But Pink, as RSPCA staff have called her, is still only marginally paler than when she was found
Trail Of The Pink Panther
A homeowner couldn't believe his eyes when a terrified cat was thrown over his garden fence - after being dyed bright pink.
The man watched in horror as the cat flew over the wooden fence and landed in his back garden at 10.30pm.
Now the RSPCA has launched a massive hunt to catch the cruel culprits.
The man, who had just returned from the pub, was initially dismissed as crazy and told to "sleep it off" when he told his wife what he had seen.
But he called the RSPCA, who collected the female cat and took it to a local vet for a wash. The colour faded but is only slightly paler.
Officers do not want to cause further stress by washing it again - so the colour will now have to grow out naturally over 18 months.
The RSPCA say the cat - named Pink by staff - is in good health and they are keen to trace the owner and the person who threw it.
It is thought the naturally white domestic short-haired cat, aged one to two years old, is either a stray or has been abandoned.
The fur around her neck has a pattern which suggests she has been wearing a collar fairly recently.
Animal welfare officer Carl Hone was surprised to find the cat dyed completely pink when he arrived at the scene in Swindon, Wilts.
He said: "When I got the call I thought perhaps it would be a cat with something...

Baby barn owl born six months out of season handed in to Secret World Animal Rescue Centre, Somerset, Britain - 22 Oct 2011

Flap Over Barn Owl Born At Wrong Time
An unexpected new arrival to a wildlife rescue centre in Somerset has left experts in something of a flap.
Staff at the Secret World Animal Rescue Centre have been left puzzled after a baby barn owl was handed in out of season.
They can't decide if the youngster has been born six months early for the 2012 breeding cycle or if he is six months late from this year's.
Barn owls normally produce chicks in April to coincide with an abundance of prey so either way the fluffy chick has been hatched at the wrong time.
The little owl was handed in to a vet's practice in Langport, Somerset, without any exact information about where it was found.
If he hadn't been discovered the baby owl would most likely have died.
However, luckily for him the youngster now has every chance of being successfully hand reared and released back into the wild in the New Year.
Meanwhile, Secret World staff are appealing for more information about where the young bird was found just in case he has any siblings who also need rescuing.

Emily Blunt on a possible sequel to The Devil Wears Prada
British actress Emily Blunt made a name for herself after playing Meryl Streep's paranoid assistant in The Devil Wears Prada. But will there be a sequel to the film?
"Well people are talking about it, " says Emily when Jonathan asks about a possible second film. "I hear there's another book that's been written, so I don't know if it's going to happen. I think if everyone came back, but I heard Meryl in an interview the other day and they were like, 'would you do it Meryl?' and she went, 'sure if I didn't have to lose the f**king weight.' She hated it, the starvation we went through. We had to be really small," explains Emily.
Emily on her latest role in the film Looper
In the film Looper, Emily plays a character who lives on her own on a farm and in order to make the part believable, Emily was forced to learn a new skill.
"I had to learn how to chop wood really convincingly," Emily explains. The actress has the opportunity to show off her wood chopping skills on The Jonathan Ross as an axe and wood are brought into the studio and she gives Jonathan and fellow guest John Bishop a quick lesson on splitting the wood.

On the right is written 'Victory starts here!' whilst at the back it reads 'Glory to the military sport'. Skrunda was the site of two Hen House radars built in the 1960s and a Pechora radar built in the mid 1980s. The station was responsible for scanning for incoming ballistic weapons from a westerly direction. Russia completed its Baltic withdrawal in 1994, with the exception of Skrunda, Russia's most westerly radar installation and a main link in its air defence network. Latvia grudgingly agreed that Russia could maintain the Skrunda facility, allowing time for the construction of a new radar in Belarus. Russia handed back the territory of the Skrunda radar station in October 1999, and the last Russian military facility in Latvia ceased to exist.
