46ft high waves hit Eshaness, Shetland Islands, Scotland, UK - 26 Dec 2016
Ryan Sandison took photos of the enormous waves hitting the coast of Eshaness, in the north-west of the islands, after Storm Connor hit Scotland on Boxing Day. Shetland was battered by gusts of up to 94mph, as well as rain, sleet, hail and snow. The Met Office put an amber weather warning in place for Shetland, whilst the north-west and north-east of England saw gusts of up to 60mph. Tonight (Tues) is set to be dry and frosty, with fog across central and southern areas. It will remain breezy and chilly in the north, according to forecasters at the Met Office. Tomorrow (Wed) will see light rain and breezy weather in the north-west of the UK, but the rest of the country will stay dry. The end of the week will see dry and chilly weather in the south to end the year, but it will remain windy and damp in the north-west.

BRITISH PLUMBER CREATES WORLD'S LONGEST MOTORBIKE

A plumber has entered the new Guinness Book of Records for building the world's longest motorbike.

Colin Furze, 29, spent two months creating the incredible 14.03m (46ft) motorbike, which can travel at speeds of up to 30mph.

He used two 50cc Honda Sky mopeds which he extended using pieces of aluminium.

"You can ride it like a normal motorbike but steering is a bit of a problem as it has just a small turning circle," said Colin, from Stamford, Lincs.

"It is quite heavy and difficult to handle and it would be hard to ride on the roads as you need about six widths of road to turn."

Colin constructed the massive motorcycle in his back garden to celebrate his 29th birthday.

He used his existing moped and bought another identical one from eBay which he took apart.

The final motorbike measures 14.03 metres and smashes the previous record of 9.6 metres.

To make it into the record books, Colin had to drive the bike 100 metres which he did on an airfield.

He posted a film of him riding it on You Tube and sent the video along with signed statements, including one from a solicitor, to Guinness.

"I thought it would be a cool thing to do and I'm thrilled to be in the Guinness Book of Records," said Colin.

"I loved BMX bikes when I was a boy and then became interested in motorbikes and I thought it would be fun to break a world record.

"My mum Beryl was quite interested at first in what I was doing but by the time it was finished, she was glad to see the back of it.

"I was building it in the back garden and she had to climb over it to get to the garden and the bins."
