Dotty the donkey given bravery award for saving Stanley the sheep from a dog attack, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, Britain - 05 Apr 2011

Brave Donkey Honoured For Saving Sheep
A donkey has been awarded a special bravery prize after coming to the aid of a sheep being attacked by a dog.
Dotty the donkey came to the rescue two years ago when a dog sank its teeth into her stablemate Stanley the sheep.
Spotting the attack the courageous creature, from North Yorkshire, galloped across her paddock letting out 'a screech of rage'.
She then managed to pin the offending pitbull terrier to the ground before chasing it out of the field.
The drama was spotted by 63-year-old farmer Ann Rogers.
She recalls: "Dotty was so brave that day. The dog had its jaws clamped around Stanley and Dotty jumped after them and pinned the dog to the ground. She clamped her teeth around it and bit down for a couple of minutes.
"At one point she even picked it up and tossed it round. The dog was in such a frenzy that it still didn't let go until the pain became too much and it let go and ran off."
The dog, which also bit two horses during the same rampage, was later put down.
Two years on Stanley, who lost two teeth and suffered facial paralysis in the attack, and Dotty are inseparable.
And Dotty has now been honoured with a bravery award by the charity PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals).
12-year-old Dotty is the 10th winner of the award and the first animal other than a dog to receive the honour.
Dotty and Stanley first became friends five years ago when Ann found the frail donkey tethered at the side of the road.
She brought her home and stabled her with Stanley, who was orphaned as a newborn.
Elaine Pendlebury, senior veterinary surgeon at PDSA, said: 'Donkeys are very stoical and protective. Dotty showed herself to be a true protector of her family and her bravery saved Stanley.'
