    A Trip To Buddhist Hell
Walking through the Wang Saen Suk Monastery garden offers a chilling trip through Buddhist hell.

Located around 100 miles from Bangkok, the gardens are home to a host of gruesome sculptures that illustrate the exact punishments meted out to sinners.

At the entrance visitors are greeted by a brightly coloured sign proclaiming "Welcome To Hell".

Beyond is a maze of nightmarish visions of torsos being sawn, people being boiled and birds pecking at entrails.

According to Buddhism, when you die you must face four celestial beings who examine all the good and bad deeds you carried out during your life.

If the good outweigh the bad you will go to heaven, but if your bad deeds are more numerous you will be punished.

Those condemned to the 'hell realms' are given specific punishments for a finite amount of time (usually many thousands of years).

They remain in hell until they have worked off their accumulated karma and are allowed up to a higher realm of life.

The centrepiece of the Wang Saen Suk hell garden is a pair of giant emaciated sinners - one male and one female - with long tongues hanging down to their waists.

Nearby, a parade of frightening life-size figures with animal heads show what happens to people who carry out certain sins.

For example, thieves are transformed into monkeys, the dishonest into toads and the corrupt into pigs.

Venturing further into the garden reveals grotesque scenes showing what fate befalls those who break the five central Buddhist precepts.

As such, those who kill, cheat, steal, commit adultery, or get hooked on gambling, drugs or alcohol are shown suffering various painful torments.

Meanwhile, one woman is shown being squeezed in a giant vice for the sin of practising birth control or having had an abortion.

    Another is speared...

Wolves chase the bears for stealing their food (moose)
Predators Feast on 'No Man's Land'
These images take a fascinating look at nature's food chain in action.

Wildlife photographer Tom Schandy captured the grisly pictures of a dead moose providing sustenance to other wildlife.

Hiding out day and night on the border between Finland and Russia; nicknamed 'No Man's Land' because it is a popular feeding place for large carnivores Schandy secretly watched around the clock the dramatic wildlife event unfold.

Bears and wolves flocked to the dead female moose and feasted on its carcass until there was nothing left.

Schandy who was camouflaged less than 30 metres away from nature's wild feast told of a smooth stream of traffic to and from the dead moose.

He said: "During the course of the night eight bears and three wolves fought over the carcass.

"On occasion the bears and wolves would stand up to each other in order to get more of the fresh meat.

"Two of the bears even fought each other for the moose by standing on their hind legs and battling.

"Their roars sent shivers down my spine."

Five female students arrested for stealing nativity figurines, Illinois, America - 09 Dec 2011
It was a nightmare before Christmas for five female college students when they decided to steal Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.

The women were arrested after allegedly stealing nativity figurines from a public square in Illinois.

According to a police report, a man delivering pizzas reported seeing five women swiping several seasonal statues, and knocking over others, before putting them in a maroon SUV.

An officer tracked down the vehicle to a Taco Bell before questioning the five suspects, several from the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority of Monmouth College.

The driver Korri Crawford, 18, confessed immediately, saying "We did it. Can we give them back!"

Ms Crawford said she had picked up Brittany Smallberger, 22; Samantha Bundy, 21; Emily Triebel, 22; and Cathryn Sargent, 21, "after the bars closed".

She told the officer they had talked about "stealing the nativity scene" and she was "sorry and it was stupid".

The figures were later found arranged on Monmouth College President Mauri Ditzler's front.

Each girl faces a misdemeanor theft charge.

The sculpture, which took three sculptors over two months to design, was created to mark launch of UKTV's new TV channel 'Drama', which will be showing the original BBC Pride And Prejudice series. The lake scene from the series has previously been voted one of the most memorable British TV drama moments of all time.

  • 'They are so convincing': Vera Gazzard lost her life savings to HyperVerse.

'They are so convincing': Vera Gazzard lost her life savings to HyperVerse.
Australians who were convinced to put money into the Hyper group investment schemes say no one has been held to account for their losses.

Vera Gazzard had plans for her $50,000 in savings. Elective surgery was on the list, as was help for her daughter who was expecting a second child.

But when an acquaintance recommended an investment opportunity called HyperVerse offering daily returns of 0.5%, she jumped at the opportunity.

HyperVerse was one of the many crypto investment schemes being run by Sam Lee and Ryan Xu, offering returns of up to 300% within 600 days through a membership plan to the Hyper "community".

Vera Gazzard was a victim of a scam and was photographed near her Air b’n’b in Torquay on Victoria’s Surf Coast. She’s a case study on older people being scammed. Australia.
