Yawning owl, Noida, near Delhi, India - Oct 2009

The owl during its stretching routine, A tired owl doesn't look quite so fierce as it lets out a yawn during a less than strenuous morning stretching routine. The mighty bird of prey. also pictured with it's mate, succumbed to the yawn as it perched on a gap in a wall. But moments after seemingly letting its guard down, the owl spotted a squirrel and took off in hot pursuit. The snaps were taken by 49 year old amateur photographer Stephen Ekka, who spotted the owls close to his kitchen window. A tired owl doesn't look quite so fierce when it lets out a yawn during a less than strenuous morning stretching routine.
The mighty bird of prey tilted its head to both sides before succumbing to the yawn as it perched on a gap in a wall with a mate.
But moments after seemingly letting its guard down, the fearsome owl spotted a squirrel and took off in hot pursuit.
The snaps were taken by 49 year old amateur photographer Stephen Ekka, who spotted the owls close to his kitchen window.
He immediately dashed outside with his Canon camera and tried to get as close as he possibly could without disturbing the birds.
He said: "One day my wife called me and pointed at the owls which she could see from our kitchen window.
"I had never seen an owl so close up, although the distance was actually about eight metres.
"Without making any noise, I got my camera and went outside and started clicking.
"I had to hide myself because these birds are so sensitive that they can spot any slight movement or sound.
"Patiently I watched the birds, their movements and their moods and as soon as I got the opportunity, I photographed them.

Brown Bear Santra performs a yoga routine, Ahtari Zoo, Finland - 13 Sep 2010
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Meta Penca/Bournemouth News / Rex Features ( 1227635d )
The Yoga Bear Show
Forget Yogi Bear, meet the yoga bear.
Amateur photographer Meta Penca took these amazing shots of a female Brown bear doing her early morning yoga stretches at Ahtari Zoo in Finland.
The hilarious display went on for over 15 minutes, much to the delight of visitors.
The bear, called Santra, had just woken from a nap when she sat down for the yoga routine - stretching one leg and then the other.
She even managed to balance on her bottom and pull both her furry legs up around her ears at once.
Ms Penca, a 29-year-old web programmer from Slovenia, said: "She seemed as if she was stretching for at least 15 minutes.
"She held her legs with her hands for a minute or two in a V position and then put them down and relaxed.
"Then she put up her left leg and put it straight with her hands and held it with her left hand for a bit.
"Then she lifted the other leg, straightened it and held it with her right hand for around two minutes and then had a little rest and then all over again.
"It was exactly the same as when you see people do yoga - easy, slow, focused and calm.
"She looked pretty into it, a really straight face, no looking around just very serious and calm and kept her eyes slightly opened and focused.'
"She looked like she didn't notice us at all.
"We were all trying be as quiet as possible. Most looked amazed and were just smiling and not saying anything.
"My first thought was how very human she looked, and then I thought that maybe they rescued her from a circus or something - it looked so unreal and so rehearsed.
"But I read on the website of the zoo later that she and her partner are one of the oldest inhabitants there, so I guess she just took her time to do a little stretching".
