The family left Waterloo station, London, today for Johannesburg aboard the Orangfontein boat train.

 Pictured on his way to Buckingham Palace to present his credentials to the King is Dr. Rudolph Bystricky , new Czechoslovak ambassador in London.
 He is seen as he left the ambassador's residence in Wilton Crescent, S.W., today.
 Dr Bystricky , aged 39, is married and has two children.
 an accomplished linguist fluent in English, French, Russian, German and Hungarian , he was formerly the head of the economic Department of the Czechoslovak Ministry of foreign affairs.
 The new ambassador is believed to be the first Slovak pointed to the important London posts.

 SOUTH AFRICAN FOOTBALLER ARRIVES TO PLAY FOR LONDON CLUB
 
 John Hewie, the twenty-one-year-old South African footballer from North Transvaal who has signed as a professional to play for the Charlton club, arrived at Waterloo station, London, today on the ' Athlone Castle ' boat train from Southampton.
 Hewie - who plays at half-back or centre-half - was accepted by the football Association and the football league after registration and other difficulties have been overcome.
