An adult holding up a child (CIRCLED) in front of storm waves in Porthcawl in South Wales as Storm Brian hit the region
Storm Brian, Porthcawl, Wales - 21 Oct 2017
A man has been branded an "irresponsible idiot" by holding a child in his arms in front of waves from Storm Brian just inches away from a 30 foot drop into the raging sea. A photographer captured the scene on Saturday afternoon in Porthcawl,South Wales, as gale force winds caused giant waves to crash down on the pier. A group of 10 people which included 4 children were seen hiding against the pier wall as the waves smashed above them. At one point a man holding a young child moved away from the wall to face the wave head on. One onlooker who did not want to be named said "The man is an irresponsible idiot,it was treacherous up there, the path is very slippy in this weather, one wrong move and they would have fallen into the sea". Prior to the storm Alison Baptiste, national flood duty manager for the Environment Agency, warned against social media stunts during the bad weather. "We urge people to stay safe along the coast and warn against putting yourself in unnecessary danger by taking storm selfies."

Chilling footage showing the murder of Kim Jong-nam, the playboy half-brother of Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un on Monday morning, which has been posted on Youtube and is shown here in graphic detail in grabs from that video. The extraordinary video shows the moment female assassins sneak up on him with one coming at him from behind and spraying or smearing poison in his face with her hands. The female assassins then calmly walk off in opposite directions in a hit which is timed on the footage as taking only 2.33 seconds to carry out. The entire video begins by showing Kim Jong-nam entering the Malaysian airport and then looking up at a screen to look for details of his flight. In the next chilling scene, the two assassins come at him from different directions with the killer in the 'LOL' logo-emblazoned top approaching him from behind and putting her hands around his head to his face. He is sprayed or smeared with poison, possibly placed on gloves, during a brief struggle and both women then walk calmly away from him. Kim Jong-nam is then seen walking towards staff and security and explaining and displaying with visible hand movements what has just happened to him. He then appears to walk off unsteadily with security personal (shown here circled in red). A seperate photo was released showing him shortly afterwards unconscious and slumbered on an airport armchair before he dies.

Bird perches on a capybara using it as a launchpad to catch insects, Pantanal, Pocone, Brazil - April 2014

Brazilian Bother: Yellow Bird Bothers Capybara
This hapless capybara seems to be having just as much bother as certain football teams in Brazil.
A cheeky bird hitching a ride and free meal on the back of a giant rodent has been captured by a British wildlife photographer.
Paul Williams, 34, observed the cattle tyrant in Brazil's Pantanal region on the back of a pig-sized capybara, the largest rodent in the world.
The bird was spotted doing acrobatic somersaults as it used the animal's back as a launch platform for catching insects - and the capybara didn't look impressed.
As the name suggests, the cattle tyrants sometimes perch on the backs of cattle and horses to catch insects flushed by the livestock. But this cheeky bird was also feasting on the semi aquatic mammal's fur - possibly for ticks.
The giant rodent disturbed insects as it grazed on grass, which were then quickly snapped up by the somersaulting bird.
Paul, who works for the BBC Natural History Unit, said: "It was quite funny to see this little bird riding on top of this massive rodent. It was as if the bird was commanding it to march on, and whispering directions in it's ear"
"He looked quite happy hitching a free ride and getting a meal. He ate from the capybara's fur then snapped up any insects the rodent disturbed while eating amongst the grass and water hyacinth.
"You could see the bird jumping up in the air and doing somersaults to catch the insects. I thought that it was quite a sight, but judging by the capybara's expression he didn't agree.
"This sort of relationship is quite a common occurrence and several species of birds increase their feeding rate by associating with capybara or other large mammals."
Capybaras are closely related to guinea pigs but weigh in at around 55 kg and grow up to a metre long. They live in grassy wetla...

Annual deep clean at the London Aquarium, Britain - 09 Jan 2014
It was time for the annual deep clean at the London Aquarium today and a team of aquarists (specialist divers) kicked off 2014 with a full clean of all 63 displays. However, rather than lend a helping hand, more often than not the attraction's inquisitive inhabitants ended up getting in the way. Clearly not understanding the purpose of the event, Tubby the Gentoo Penguin was more interested in getting himself - rather than his enclosure - hosed down. Meanwhile, other aquarists found themselves interrupted by a host of sea creatures - from photo bombing rays to light fingered lobsters - as they tried to go about their work

Cressida had a cameo role in the 2009 ITV2 show 'Trinity', which her half sister Isabella Calthorpe had a leading role in.
Wearing a skimpy Superman cheerleader costume, Cressida is seen taking part in a cheer routine and offering sexual favours to win student council votes.
The then 20-year-old Cressida appears for two minutes in the fourth episode of the programme, which was based on the fictional Trinity College and axed after one series.
Cressida's mother Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon was an 'It Girl' in the 60s

The Merciful Tigers: Predators Let Young Vulture Get Away
These stunning images show a young vulture looking like it is about to become a tiger's lunch - only to be allowed to escape.
Wildlife photographer Santosh Saligram captured the amazing scene as three tigers looked set for an easy meal.
He took these shots of a tigress and her two female juveniles in the wild at Bandhavgarh national park in central India.
Santosh explains: "The resident tigress and two of her female cubs were cooling off in the water of the famous Rajbehra Dam area.
"Suddenly, one of the tigresses noticed something on a rock at the corner and both the sisters went off to investigate.
"They reappeared shortly, following a juvenile long-billed vulture which seemed to have lost its way from its nest and incapacitated in some way.
"Threatened by the tigers, it tried to fly but only managed to flop down into the water. One of the tigresses then approached the vulture from the other side in a curious way.
"The vulture opened its beak wide in defence, hoping to put the tiger off, which it successfully did.
"Slowly, it started creeping towards the bank and after some time, climbed up the bank and disappeared into the bush. It was amazing, I have never seen anything like this happen in the wild."

Dense population of Great White sharks, South Arica
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Dan Callister / Rex Features (1816310af)
Hungry Shark Loses Lunch ... And A Tooth
This Great White shark lost not only its lunch but also its tooth when it attacked a decoy seal.
The hungry shark leapt out of the water to snatch up what it thought was a tasty Cape fur seal in its massive jaws.
However, it was actually a decoy and the over enthusiastic shark bit down so hard that one of its teeth was sent flying.
The moment was caught on camera by photographer Dan Callister off the coast of Seal Island near Cape Town, South Africa.
A large population of sharks patrol the waters around Seal Island, which is home to around 64,000 Cape Fur seals from April to September.
With such an abundant food supply close by, scores of sharks patrol the seas around the island on the look out for young and inexperienced seal pups.
To reach the open sea to feed the seals must first cross these shark-infested waters - passing through what is known as the 'ring of death'.
The predators then catch their prey in truly spectacular fashion.
Approaching from below, the sharks leap nearly vertically out of the waves to snatch seals swimming close to the surface.
The behaviour means that the area is acknowledged as the best in the world to witness sharks breaching.

Pet dog swallows plastic frog and cow toys in space of six weeks, Hartford, Cambridgeshire, Britain - 08 Feb 2012

Puppy Makes A Meal Of Frog And Cow Toys
A mischievous puppy has escaped death twice after swallowing a frog and a cow.
Vets were shocked when they x-rayed golden Labrador Chester and found a 10-cm plastic frog toy filling his stomach.
Then just six weeks later owners Marion Stribling and Neale Clarke had to take the 21-month-old pup back to the vets after he ate a squeaky cow toy.
"Both times we knew he had swallowed a toy, but we weren't exactly sure what," said Mr Clarke.
"The vets were rather shocked when they did the x-ray and saw the frog with its huge boggle eyes. None of us could believe he had managed to swallow such a big toy."
The cheeky pup began his toy-swallowing habit in December when he was let off his lead to play with a group of dogs in a field.
He picked up the frog toy when another dog dropped it and ran off with it in his mouth.
"Chester has a fixation for toys and grabbed this toy as soon as the other dog let go," said Mr Clarke.
"Rather than lose it or let the other dog have it back, Chester decided to swallow it.
"It was a big toy, but I guess it was quite soft and squidgy so it went down his throat and into his stomach.
"If we hadn't noticed it would have stayed in his stomach and could have caused a fatal blockage."
The couple took Chester to Cromwell Vets in Huntingdon, Cambs, who x-rayed the dog and found the big frog.
"Chester wasn't showing any symptoms but his owners knew he had swallowed some sort of toy so we x-rayed him," said vet David Fennell
"We were surprised to see the frog and it was really quite big, taking up most of the length of his stomach.
"It could have been dangerous, particularly if it had passed into his intestine but in this instance the toy was probably too big."
Vets surgically removed the frog and Chester made a quick r...

A beach hut without electricity or running water that sits in a car park for six months of the year has gone up for sale for GBP 60,000. For half the year the cream and blue hut sits on the seafront at Southwold in Suffolk. However, from October to April it is removed to a nearby car park to protect it from storm damage. It has now gone up for sale with local estate agents Durrants, who are confident of selling it for GBP 60,000. Indeed, this is a relatively modest asking price considering other beach huts in the area have gone for in excess of GBP 100,000

Royal Newlyweds Move Into Palace 'Starter Home'
A two bedroom cosy cottage is just the type of starter home that's perfect for a pair of newlyweds.
And that's exactly what Prince William and his new wife Catherine have got - set in the lavish splendour of Kensington Palace.
Until recently the couple was sharing living quarters with Prince Harry at Clarence House.
However, they have now set up home in Nottingham Cottage, which was previously occupied by Princess Diana's sister Lady Jane Fellowes and her husband.
The plan is for William and Catherine to use the cottage at weekends while they are in London.
In the meantime they continue to look for a more permanent base in the capital.
And if rumours are true they won't have far to move as they are said to be considering Apartment 1a in Kensington Palace.
This luxurious 19-room suite was once home to the late Princess Margaret but currently acts as exhibition space and offices for the Historic Royal Palaces.
If the couple do decided to set up home there it will be returned to the Royal Household.
William and Catherine also rent a farmhouse near to RAF Anglesey where William is based.

Florence Green, the UK's last surviving female World War I veteran, celebrates 110th birthday, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, Britain - 18 Feb 2011
Britain's last surviving female World War I veteran is celebrating reaching her milestone 110th birthday. Florence Green joined the Women's Royal Air Force shortly before the end of the conflict in 1918, and worked as a waitress at Marham. The WRAF was founded only months before Florence joined up with the intent of providing female mechanics to free up men for service. A huge enrolment meant that the women volunteers also fulfilled other wartime needs. Today, Florence was presented with a special birthday cake by Flt Lieut Tim Serrell-Cooke. Florence, who lives with her daughter 89-year-old May, was identified as a surviving war veteran in 2008, when a researcher found her service record at the National Archives. As such she is believed to be one of only three surviving veterans of the conflict in the world. Briton Claude Choules, who now lives in Australia, served in the Royal Navy, and turns 100 in March. Meanwhile, American ambulance driver named Frank Buckles turned 110 earlier this month

The resulting images show the 3,000hp dragster - or top alcohol funny car - on a terrifying collision course with 62-year-old Andy - with one hair-raising frame featuring a spinning wheel seemingly about to smash his lens.
