Rodebay (Oqaatsut in greenlandic means the cormorants) is a north west Greenland village with a direct view to icebergs in Disko Bay. It sits 21 km north of Ilulissat..This village was called Rodebay by the Dutch whalers back in the 18th century, who named the trading post probably after the colour of the sea in the bay after a whale was killed. Village life in Oqaatsut is about sustaining a small community that loves to be close to the sea. The few houses are scattered across a rocky terrain yet never very far from the harbor.
