High Wheel Penny-Farthing Bicycle Ride In Czech Republic
May 8, 2025, Vsen, Czech Republic: Participants in the annual Historic High Wheel Penny-farthing bicycle ride in Vsen in the Czech Republic, showcase their vintage bicycles and attire. Cyclists dress up in vintage attire, competing for the best dressed bike award. The penny-farthing, also known as a high wheel or ordinary, is characterized by its large front wheel and much smaller rear wheel, popular from the late 19th century until the advent of safety bicycles in the 1880s. Notably, it was the first vehicle to be referred to as a 'bicycle.' (Credit Image: © Slavek Ruta/ZUMA Press Wire (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)

Picture MUST credit: LimX A two legged robot that looks like the giant Star Wars AT-ST walker from Return of the Jedi Well, has stepped into the world. Tron 1 biped robot is designed primarily for use by engineers as a testbed platform for humanoid robot motion control and embodied intelligence research. It was designed and manufactured by Chinese robotics company LimX Dynamics. The robot comes with three interchangeable foot-ends for different types of locomotion. There is a simple Point-Foot, which is a rounded rubberised nub. It is said to offer the nimblest performance. There's also a more foot-like Sole for walking more like a human. And thirdly there is the Wheeled foot-end which lets the Tron 1 speed around on motorised wheels. The Wheeled version can also climb stairs and obstacles by locking the wheels and using them as feet. Each rim section weighs roughly the same as two Airbus A380 aircrafts and was craned onto five temporary supports with two 115-metre temporary rigid spokes before connection to the hub.

The world’s tallest observation wheel, standing at over 250 metres, has been unveiled. The record-breaking Ain Dubai monument offers unrivalled 360-degree views of Dubai the UAE.The 48 passenger cabins that circle the enormous circumference of the wheel have capacity to carry more than 1,750 visitors at once.It dwarfs the landmark London Eye which in comparison is a mere135m.Each rotation takes approximately 38 minutes. The structure is supported by 35m deep piles are under each of its four legs The hubs with an internal diameter of 6.25 metres are made of 200mm thick very high-grade steel, skilfully rolled, welded and machined to extreme tolerances of circularity. The hubs and spindle assembly is approximately 40 metres long and 20 metres high and weigh a massive 1,805 tonnes - equivalent to four A380 aircrafts. Each rim section weighs roughly the same as two Airbus A380 aircrafts and was craned onto five temporary supports with two 115-metre temporary rigid spokes before connection to the hub.
