Crans Montana is one of the sunniest resorts in Europe and is famous for its winter sports.
The ski resort can be found in the heart of the Alps in the Canton Valais in Switzerland.
The area is actually formed of what was once three separate communities - Crans, Montana and Aminona
Located high on a plateau on an altitude of around 1,500 m, this sun-soaked destination boasts breathtaking views over the Alps, including the Weisshorn, the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc.
With a skiing area boasting 160kms of runs, there are varied and exciting on and off-piste opportunities for all levels of ability.
The resort is topped at 2826 metres by the 'Plaine Morte', which is accessible from Crans-Montana by cable car.
Many people gather here to take advantage of the cross-country skiing on offer and marvel and the amazing views.
Beyond the skiing opportunities, Crans Montana is a cosmopolitan resort boasting over 60 international restaurants, an excellent range of shops, lively nightlife and culture.
Non-ski activities at the resort include 60kms of winter walking trails, 30kms of ice-skating, curling, mountaineering, snowshoeing, heli-skiing, tobogganing, horse-drawn sleigh rides and snowboarding.
Indoor activities and facilities consist of squash, tennis, swimming, a fitness centre, cinema, bowling, and a golf simulator.
The resort is also home to reputably the finest shops in the Alps, with an abundance of expensive boutiques selling luxury and designer goods.
