Londons Metropolitan Police train to use Taser stun guns.
The Metropolitan Police's Territorial Support Group. Sgt Alun Jones demonstrates a Taser.
The Taser is an electroshock weapon that uses electrical current to disrupt voluntary control of muscles. Its manufacturer, Taser International, calls the effects "neuromuscular incapacitation" and the devices' mechanism "Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD) technology". Someone struck by a Taser experiences stimulation of his / her sensory nerves and motor nerves, resulting in strong involuntary muscle contractions. There are two main police models, the M26 and X26. Taser International is also marketing a civilian model called the C2. Tasers were introduced as less-lethal weapons to be used by police to subdue fleeing, belligerent, or potentially dangerous subjects. The use of Tasers has become controversial following instances of Taser use that have resulted in serious injury and death, and while they are far less lethal than many other weapons, the U.N. are concerned that use of Tasers may amount to torture, and Amnesty International has reported cases where they believe that their use amounted to "cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment which is absolutely prohibited under international law".

LA: FLOODING IN LOUISIANA
24 May 2011. Bayou Sorrell, Louisiana, USA.
The Atchafalaya river is close to record water levels along the levee walls up and down her west bank levee. Driving and parking on the levee is forbidden, but many do. Police and members of the Louisiana National Guard patrol the levees and speak with offenders and ask them to move their vehicles. Crawfishermen have lost thousands of traps due to waters rising 10ft and higher in many of their traditional fishing holes and water presses against vulnerable levee walls. Another 2ft of water is expected. The crawfishermen await a bountiful harvest following the opening of the Morganza spillway complex to ease flood pressure on the Mississippi River. Police raid City office and arrest traders over alleged fraud racket
Police smashed a 'fake Californian gold' fraud racket being run from offices in the heart of the Square Mile.
Fifteen smartly dressed office workers were arrested at computer terminals in rented offices in connection with the alleged 'boiler room' swindle.
Sales agents were said to have bombarded victims, who are often elderly, with cold calls using similar techniques as those shown in Leonardo Di Caprio's Wolf of Wall Street film.
They claimed their firm had uncovered a huge gold cache in California worth $36 billion, which they intended to mine and offered shares for sale in the enterprise at discounted rates.
In reality, detectives said there was no gold, or only a tiny amount that did not match the claims.

Two migrants from Kuwait arrested after being found wandering up the M1
Exhausted, thirsty and disoriented, two migrants were arrested after they were spotted wandering along the M1.
They are believed to have risked their lives by hiding under a lorry as it came across the Channel and headed north. The two men, believed to be in their late twenties or early thirties, were spotted close to the Toddington service station in Bedfordshire yesterday. They had set off along the northbound carriageway, with lorries rumbling past just a few metres away. But they appeared to have turned back after getting to Junction 12 and realising that they were heading away from London. Signs told motorway traffic to slow down as there were pedestrians on the carriageway. When they arrived back at the service station, they begged people for water, before police turned up and arrested them. One of the two men said they were from Kuwait.
