    The Queen Elizabeth II has cancelled her traditional welcome to Balmoral Castle which was due to take place Tuesday, August 9th. The 'Welcome' has taken place for many years but was cancelled a few days ago. Buckingham Palace has played down growing concerns over her health. A small private event in the castle grounds will be held where she will inspect troops but no television cameras, photographers or reporters will be present.

    HRH Prince Philip's Funeral

    As his Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburghís coffin arrives at the West steps of St Georgeís Chapel, Windsor Castle from Horseshoe Cloister by a Royal Marines Bearer Party, The Band and Bugles of The Rifles receive the coffin with the National Anthem.

    The Guard of Honour of The Rifles give a Royal Salute and the Service Chiefs and Major Generalís party face the coffin,the Commonwealth Defence Advisors group to their right.

    The West Steps of St Georgeís Chapel are lined by a dismounted detachment of The Life Guards and The Blues & Royals of The Household Cavalry.

    The members of the Royal Family taking part in the procession can be seen to the far right.

    More than 730 members of Armed Forces personnel took part in the funeral ceremony at Windsor Castle. This included 42 members of personnel from the Royal Navy; 96 members of personnel from the Royal Marines; 507 members of personnel from the Army; and 89 members of personnel from the Royal Air Force.

    Representative detachments from all three Services drawn from units with a special relationship to His Royal Highness took part in ceremonial activity.

    The Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace welcomed The Defence Minister for Iraq, Lieutenant General Juma Anad Saadoun, to the UK today (Wed 21 Oct 2020).

    The General Officer Commanding HQ London District Major General Chris Ghika had provided Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards for the impressive socially distanced Guard of Honour.

    The Captain of the Guard invited Lieutenant General Juma Anad Saadoun to inspect his soldiers in fluent Iraqi as a courtesy to the visiting nation. The Band of the Welsh Guards played traditional music throughout.

    After the ceremonial inspection Lieutenant General Juma Anad Saadoun, who is visiting as a guest of the UK Defence Secretary, accompanied Ben Wallace to the Ministry of Defence to discuss their country’s mutual defence responsibilities and interests.
