Freed hostage Eliyah Cohen goes home
March 4th, 2025 - Tzur Hadassah, Israel. People of Tzur Hadassah great Eliyha on his return. Eliyah Cohen is discharged from hospital 10 days after he returned to Israel in a prisoners-hostages deal. Eliyah was held in captivity in Gaza for 505 days. On October 7, 2023 Eliyah, 27, attended the Nova music festival near Re'im with his girlfriend (now fiancée) Ziv Abud, 27, with Ziv's nephew Amit Ben Avida and his fiancée Karin Schwartzman. After rocket fire started early in the morning, all four escaped the festival area and reached a protected bomb shelter which later turned into a death trap. When Hamas terrorists arrived at the shelter they fired and threw grenades into the small space where dozen hid. Ziv was injured, Eliyah was kidnapped, Amit and Karin were killed. Only a week before Eliyah was released to Israel his family received the first sign of life from him in a testimony by another man who was kidnapped and released who saw Eliyah in captivity. Eliyah suffered gunshot wounds that were badly treated in Gaza. Today he was discharged from Beilinson hospital and returned to his mother's home in Tzur Hadassah.
