FEATURE - Erster November: Kerzen für die Toten
November 1, 2016 - Warsaw, Poland - On November 1st, people across Poland celebrated All Saints Day (Wszystkich Swietych). In Warsaw, Poland people gathered at the Powazki cemetery, the most famous cemetery in the city, to place candles and flowers on the graves of loved ones and departed family members. This day is an annual national holiday in Poland. The day is spent commemorating departed family members and friends as well as famous Polish historical figures and patriots. People go to cemeteries across the country and light candles and place flowers on graves as a way to remember their loved ones. Candles that are placed on graves are lit for many hours, intended to help departed souls find their way through the darkness (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)
