Liberia's Ebola epidemic was declared over by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 14th January 2016. The "end of active transmission" was declared, after 42 days without a new case. However, the WHO warns that West Africa may see flare-ups of the virus which has killed more than 11,000 people since December 2013. Although vaccines are being developed against the virus, at this time there is still no cure.
