Food stand sells BBQ crocodile meat skewers, Kunming, Yunnan province, China - 22 Apr 2010
Visitors to a food stand in China have been shocked to discover that crocodile meat is on the menu. The barbecue stand in a downtown street in Kunming, Yunnan province, sells skewers of what it says is crocodile meat. To prove the claims it has a live crocodile, mouth bound by tape, in a basin in front of the stand. A board by the stand reads: "Please don't get close to the basin." Meanwhile, two chopped crocodile heads with gaping mouths have been placed on the barbecue table. Three crocodile meat skewers sell for 10 Yuan. The stand also sells barbecued deer meat as well as spiders and scorpions. The owner of the stand, Mr. Tang, said they bought the crocodile from a wild animal farming company in Sichuan, and each crocodile costs several thousand Yuan.

BUMPER BABY HAUL FOR RARE WHITE LIONS
It's been more than 12 years since white lions were last seen in the wild, and the species came close to extinction; however, thanks to a world-wide breeding programme three snow-white cubs will be arriving at a Kent zoo later this year.
The playful cubs that are bound for British shores and Dartford's Eagle Heights Zoo but until then are enjoying life at the Australian zoo where they were born.
Just 13 years ago the global population of white lions consisted of just 10 known animals, all in captivity, but since then their numbers have grown thanks to a world-wide breeding programme to save the endangered species.
If this action had not been taken by a number of zoos around the world the lions would have completely died out. As it is, there are now around 300 in existence.
Mogo Zoo, in southern New South Wales, has been able to claim a world first after breeding five male white lion cubs from two of the three animals that owner Sally Padey brought back four years a go from Timbavati in South Africa.
Miss Padey says she is sure that the British people are certain to fall in love with the three 10-week old England-bound cubs - Tahba, Makulu and Apple - the minute they set eyes on them.
"They're just like playful kittens," she said, as she allowed one of her charges to scamper along her back as she lay down on the grass, "but the time will come, of course, when they'll be too big to play with".
The zoo's roaring success with breeding the lions is apparently all down to the climate and keeping the parents happy with plenty of food and no stress.
"Many people think on seeing their white fur that they're albinos, lacking a skin pigment, but that's n...
