An unopened original Apple iPhone has fetched $35,414 USD / € 35.650 euros at auction 15 years after it was first released.That’s more than 110 times its original price.The first generation device was still in its factory sealed box. The smartphone only has 8GB of storage - minuscule compared to the minimum 128GB available on today's iPhone 13.On the packaging there's an image of the iconic device that changed Apple for ever and the world of mobile phones for ever.The photo shows 12 basic apps displayed on a tiny 3.5-inch screen.Experts say this particular model is probably from the earliest production, as the iTunes app isn't shown yet.The app followed soon after and was eventually added to packaging.The late Apple boss Steve Jobs announced the device in January 2007 saying:” iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone," The phone was sold by US-based RR Auction and the price included the buyer’s premium.
