Hundreds of former police officers and members of the public gather in front of the former Libyan Embassy building to remember PC Yvonne Fletcher who was shot while on duty in St James's Square in central London 40 years ago today. The shots came from the then Libyan Embassy in the corner of the square. No one was ever charged with her murder, but there are hopes this year will see a private prosecution against a former Libyan minister who was there that day.

PC Yvonne Fletcher Memorial Service in London, UK.
    17/04/2024. London, UK.

A guard of honour, formed of former WPCs, parades before a memorial service for PC Yvonne Fletcher in St James's Square in central London. Former police officers and members of the public gather to remember PC Yvonne Fletcher who was shot while on duty in St James's Square in central London 40 years ago today. The shots came from the then Libyan Embassy in the corner of the square. No one was ever charged with her murder, but there are hopes this year will see a private prosecution against a former Libyan minister who was there that day.
