Meet the superhumans. From seeing more colours to remembering more faces.
Meet the superhumans. From seeing more colours to remembering more faces, some among us push the boundaries of what humans beings are able to do. In this series, we meet Australians with extraordinary abilities.
‘I’ve got this little extra strength’: the rare, intense world of a super smeller.
From petrol and perfume to Parkinson’s disease, super-smellers can detect scents others are oblivious to. For Krati Garg, the ability’s both power and pain.

‘I’d keep it on the down low’: the secret life of a super-recogniser.
Police employ them and scientists study them, but what is life like for the rare few who can never forget a face? Super-recogniser Yenny Seo didn’t think it was anything special.
Yenny has a rare ability to recognise and remember faces. ‘It’s always been quite fun for me.’
While knowing she had a strong memory for faces from a young age, Yenny realised she had a particularly special skill after watching a television show about super recognisers. She complete an online test and scored higher than the person featured in the television show.

Rebecca Sharrock is one of a handful of people worldwide with highly superior autobiographical memory. But remembering minute details of your own life has its downsides.
Rebecca Sharrock, 31, didn’t realise there was anything unusual about her extraordinary memory until January 23 2011, when her parents showed her a TV news story about people with a similar ability.

(Pic 3 - detail) Baby rabbit maybe senses something isn't right after tasting a thistle plant
Baby rabbit reacts after realising it has eaten thistle plant, Suffolk, Britain - Jul 2015
If it looks tasty.. and it smells tasty... then OUCH!
This funny bunny bit off more than it could chew when it tried to nibble at a thistle plant.
Photographer Kevin Sawford snapped the peckish rabbit near Ipswich sizing up the greenery, before taking a bite.
The resulting reactions of the wild rabbit made for this series of hilarious images as it threw its paws in the air, contorted its face in disgust and stuck out its tongue.
Kevin says: "I had been photographing a family of wild rabbits at their warden in the Suffolk countryside over a few days in the summer.
"On this particular evening this youngster started to feed on the thistle plant. At first it seems content with its meal but then realises the mistake it has made when it bites into the prickly plant. Its reaction is priceless.
"The young rabbit soon recovered and was OK but had learnt its lesson on what to feed on."

Great grey owl versus red-tailed hawk, near Montreal, Canada - 10 Feb 2013
It is typical; you are minding your own business on a comfy branch when a territorial neighbour gets you in a flap.
These amazing - and hilarious - images show a great grey owl reacting to being buzzed by a swooping red-tailed hawk.
Wildlife photographer Mircea Costina caprtured the scene north of Montreal last month.
He explains: "The owl was sitting on the branch calmly and seemed to be on the lookout for prey on the ground.
"But he immediately changed to a surprised and defensive pose when he realised the red-tailed hawk was incoming.
"It was a very fast interaction between the two birds, lasting less than one second. The hawk flew in and the owl appeared to raise its wings to fend it off.
"I think the owl was hunting in the hawk territory and it tried to defend it."
