A researcher is assembling a prototypes of a robot at the Advanced Telecommunications Reasearch Institute ATR in Kyoto. The researchers at ATR hope it will be used as a new communication device, with applications in remote work, remote education, and elderly care. Among the researchers is professor and roboticist Hiroshi Ishiguro, director of the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at Osaka University, who is famous for building humanlike robots or humanoids.
