    Junk, Candy and Pill Portraits
Lady Gaga is trash while Kim Kardasian a real sweetie - an artist creates wacky portraits of celebrities using junk, pills and candy.

And amazingly, Jason Mecier often uses items donated by the stars themselves to complete his pieces.

The San Francisco artist builds collages from unusual materials that suit the personality of the subject.

His work has seen Taylor Swift created using 5,000 Good & Plenty candies and Courtney Love composed of pills.

Nicolas Cage is made of beer bottles and car parts, while Donald Trump is cellphones and money.

Jason explains: "Celebrities really do send me items. Most people send me anywhere from a shoebox to a trash bag full of things to incorporate into their portraits.

"I have a bag of Pam Anderson's laundry, and a letter Paris Hilton wrote me from prison! Lady gaga has some Hello Kitty merchandise that was used in her famous photo shoot and Anna Nicole's has her actual kiss print on a piece of toilet paper glued on her portrait."

The star's are so flattered by the trash treatment that many of them buy their own portraits - which start at $1,500.

"Pink and Scissor Sisters bought their portraits and have them hanging in their houses, as did Rosie O'Donnell. Pink's is also in her music video for Please Don't Leave Me."

Jason's love of celebrity culture came from a childhood obsessed with television and music.

He explains: "As kid I remember obsessively clipping and scrap-booking pictures from the TV Guide of my favourite shows. In high school I did pencil drawings of my favourite record covers like The Rolling Stones, Olivia Newton-John and Pat Benatar.

"Later I did a series of psychedelic collages using Charlie's Angels trading cards and pictures. Soon I was arranging beans ...

The Man Who Shot, Burned and Ran A Train Over His Apple Products
If an iPod is on your Christmas list look away now - an artist has shot, burned, hammered and sawed his way through a range of Apple products.

Heartless Michael Tompert even ran over a selection of iPods with a TRAIN.

San Francisco-based Michael spent months purchasing the doomed products, which range from 2008's colourful range of iPods to the sought-after 2010 iPad

He hooked up with photographer friend Paul Fairchild to capture the end results of various kill methods.

Methods of destruction varied by product. A MacBook Air was decorated with nine neat bulletholes courtesy of a 9mm Heckler & Koch handgun, while a Magic Mouse was sliced up with a handsaw.

And Michael even took the drastic action of placing seven iPod Nanos on the tracks in the path of a Caltrain Diesel Locomotive.

But it was the iPad that proved the hardest to kill. Described by Michael as "practically indestructible", it shrugged off blows from an 8lb sledgehammer before finally meeting it's maker (Steve Jobs?) after its insides were heated with a soldering torch until it exploded.

Michael got the idea for the project after he bought his two sons an iPod Touch each for Christmas. The boys started to fight over one of the mp3 players which had a certain game installed.

His patience finally snapping, Michael grabbed one of the iPods and smashed it on the ground, to the amazement of his children.

"I had given my kids an iPod Touch so they would be happy and love me. But when the argument started I just grabbed it and sm...
