For the residents, they are a menace and for the tourists, they are an attraction. The baboons normally live in the mountains, but they come down into the village to look for food in the winter. Following complaints from residents, wildlife research centers in the governorate, in coordination with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, are working toward decreasing the number of monkeys in Al-Hada province. Al-Ribah monkeys that live in Al-Hada are similar to monkeys that live in East Africa and Yemen. A large number of domesticated monkeys live in Al-Taif next to roads, while other monkeys survive by attacking agricultural areas. Some had also spread in the outskirts of cities causing many problems to the municipality and residential areas in the vicinity. Taif is a city in the Mecca Province of southwest Saudi Arabia at an elevation of 1,879 m (6,165 ft) on the slopes of Sarawat Mountains. It would appear that this baboon has well and truly hit the bottle! Clearly times have got tough out on the plains of Zimbabwe as the primate was spotted cuddling a wine bottle like a baby. Holding its prize tight, the humorous sight saw the baboon sprawled on the ground as though it had collapsed after a good night out. And, just like many a reveller, it appeared eager for the good times to continue as it licked the bottle and studied it as though looking for just one more drop.

A photographer captured the moment a group of baboons enjoyed a spot of monkey-style golf in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Australian wildlife photographer Shannon Benson said: "I went for a walk to the far reaches of the hotel golf course. There I found a large troop of around 60 or so Baboons. I approached slowly, unobtrusively and found a shady patch to sit and observe them. I spent the next few hours photographing them play, fight, mate and forage.
