    The Damned of Chernobyl
August 10, 2010, Chernihiv, Ukraine: The Chernobyl disaster is considered as the worst nuclear accident in the history. The disaster occurred on 26 April 1986, 01:23, at reactor number four at the Chernobyl power plant, near the town of Prypiat, during an unauthorized systems test. the resulting fire sent a plume of radioactive fallout into the atmosphere and over an extensive area, including Pripyat. The plume drifted over large parts of the western Soviet Union, and also much of Europe. 25 years after the disaster, people are still living and dying into the contaminated areas. /// Chernihiv maternity in the north of the contaminated area. 25 years after the disaster the effects are different. The malformations are usually inside. A baby of 10 days after an operation.. Credit: Cyril Bitton / Polaris (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)
