AUSTRALIA'S ' GORDON RICHARDS ' TO RIDE IN BRITAIN .

Jockey Arthur ' Scobie ' Breasley , 35, the ' Gordon Richards' of Australia, shown here back in the saddle after his trip from Australia. The horses Mr.J.V.Rank's ' Speed Test ', and the picture is taken at the rank stables, Druids Lodge, Middle Woodford, near Salisbury , Wilts. Here to ride for Mr. Rank next season, Beasley has never ridden outside of Australia before, though he has won most of the major races, except the Melbourne cup -- just as Britain's Gordon Richards has never won the derby. From Australia, Beasley has bought his wife, his daughter Loretta, aged 10, a ' good luck ' whip given to him by another jockey, and six saddles. He intends to stay in England if he likes it here.
