The development of humanoid robots could one day be a knockout blow for human boxers.A company is planning to put on combat bouts involving mechanical fighters.
China-based robot maker Unitree is pledging to put on robot bouts involving its machines in May and live stream them to audiences.
To advertise the fights, it has shown two bots squaring up to each other in the ring, throwing punches and kicks.
And another match-up sees one of robots facing a human opponent.
Unitree set up the fights to demonstrate the abilities of its previously announced G1 robot.
In both bouts the robot is able to throw accurate punches and follow its opponent around the ring.If it gets knocked down, it is able to spring back up onto its feet and carry on fighting.
The G1 is 180 cm tall , weighs 35kg and has a running speed of two meters per second.
It is designed to be a robot helper, assembly line operative or research tool.
It has a head without any human features but is packed with the camera and radar sensors usually found in autonomous vehicles.

A super dextrous robot hand that can twist a Rubik’s Cube , deal playing cards and juggle an orange has been shown off.

Chinese maker Unitree calls the hand the Dex5 and it is now being fitted to its humanoid bot the G1.

The company says a single hand with 20 degrees of freedom and has 94 highly sensitive touch points.

To demonstrate its capabilities Unitree showed a G1 tossing an orange from one hand to the other.

This requires the fingers to coordinate the release of the fruit in the tossing hand and then open. The palm of the catching one before enclosing fingers around it.

Next up is a Rubik’s Cube puzzle, turning the sides around easily with one hand while the other holds it.

Finally it holds a hand of cards which the robot hand fans out before laying them on a table.

The G1 is 180 cm tall , weighs 35kg and has a running speed of two meters per second.

Unitree says it can operate for up to two hours  on a full charge.

It is designed to be a robot helper, assembly line operative or research tool.

It has a head without any human features but is packed with the camera and radar sensors usually found in autonomous vehicles.

Unitree is making a standard G1 and an enhanced educational model.

Le robot humanoïde G1 a la faculté de pouvoir pratiquer le kung-fu
Picture MUST credit: Unitree A humanoid robot under development has been given a new skill — kung fu fighting. The G1 by Chinese company Unitree has been shown off after getting an algorithm upgrade which the firm says enables it to learn and perform virtually any movement. And to prove it the autonomous machine displays a range of moves including swivelling on one leg while keeping its balance. The robot is trained in a simulated environment using reinforcement learning and by copying others. It is also equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. G1’s joints boast between 23 and 43 degrees of freedom and produce a maximum torque of up to 120 Nm. It has a running speed of two meters per second and can operate for up to two hours on a full charge. It weighs 35 kg and can fold itself down to 690 x 450 x 300-mm to make it easy to carry around. The robot is designed for work in factories and warehouses and eventually could become a home help. It was shown carrying out its kung fu moves at the Unitree headquarters in Hangzhou, China. A humanoid robot is about to jump into production — after showing off its skills at leaping into the air.

The G1 by Chinese company Unitree has been under development for several years.

But now the maker has tweaked its appearance and given it the ability to take off into the air on both feet and land without falling.

It is now said to be ready for sale with a price tag of $16,000 USD / €14.500 euros.

Unitree has shown off its new abilities which also include spinning in mid air during a leap and negotiating obstacles as it climbs up and down stairs.

The company ays the bot will be able to perform warehouse duties like fetching and carrying, doing plant and factory inspections and aiding in fire and rescue.
