An adorable pup has become the UK's first ever funeral therapy dog. Seven-year-old Beagle Basil provides grieving families with unconditional love and support at Clive Pugh Funeral Directors in Shrewsbury. "Beagles are such loving, caring dogs. They are pack hounds. They are used to being with lots of other dogs. Basil loves all the attention. It's the ideal job for him. He thrives on it. Children, in particular, love him," said Rosalinda, who runs the funeral parlour with husband Clive. "Of course, no-one wants to go to a funeral parlour. It's the last thing people ever want to do. Basil puts everyone at ease. His instinct is to comfort. "When families are sitting here, arranging a funeral, their minds tend to be all over the place. Basil is very perceptive. I think it just breaks the ice if you have something else to focus upon and talk about, even if it is just for a few minutes. You really can feel that tension leaving the room."

NEWS - New York: Illegales Elfenbein im Wert von 8.5 Mio US Dollar öffentlich zerstört
August 3, 2017 - New York City, New York, United States of America - An ivory ship on the conveyor to be destroyed. During a public “Ivory Crush†organized by the Department of Environmental Commission (DEC), the Wildlife Conservation Society, Tiffany & Co., and environmental groups, such as 96 Elephants (the estimated number of elephants slaughtered daily), some two tons of confiscated Ivory, with a value of $8.5 million USD was crushed in NYC’s Central Park. In 2014, New York State passed a law making the trade of Ivory items a class D felony, except in certain cases with state approval. Despite this, New York City is the nation's largest port of entry for illegal wildlife goods, according to state officials..Investigative Lieutenant Jesse Paluch of the NYS DEC Department of Environmental Crimes Investigations adds that what was crushed today “was the culmination of three years of investigations and the execution of 12 search warrantsâ€Â. He further adds “we want to show that the ivory on the animal is priceless, but worthless in this form as a consumer goodâ€Â. Mary Dixon of WCS says “we would like to send a message to poachers and anyone involved in the illegal ivory trade that we will no longer tolerate thisâ€Â. WCS works in 60 countries worldwide and works to stop animal trafficking. Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac was among the guests in attendance (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)

Lego man goes backpacking around the world - May 2016
FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/sb5c
A little Lego man is currently jetting around the world on a mini gap year with his human owner.
Human owner Tom, 31, decided to take a year off and travel around the world...and he took the Lego Backpacker with him to enjoy the journey of a lifetime to twenty countries over the last six months.
Tom said: "When I left Melbourne I started travelling with my now ex-girlfriend and she was setting up her online travel blog and I wanted to do something as well to keep myself busy during the trip (especially during long train rides, buses, waiting at airports etc). I have always been a big fan of Lego, so the idea kind of came together when she mentioned trying to merge that with my photos.

'We Are Most Amused' A Comedy Celebrating the 60th Birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales, at the Wimbledon Theatre, London, Britain - 12 Nov 2008
Prince Charles was most amused last night after a host of comedy greats performed at a special show to celebrate his 60th birthday. Charles was accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry who, along with an enthusiastic audience at the New Wimbledon Theatre, were entertained by the likes of Robin Williams and John Cleese as part of the 'We Are Most Amused' comedy night. Bill Bailey, with his clever fusion of music and comedy, also had the Royals and the rest of the audience in hysterics. However, the highlight of the evening was when Williams and Bailey joined together to sing about how difficult it must be for Prince Charles to live in the shadow of the Queen. Also taking to the stage was recent BBC Radio 2 row actor Andrew Sachs, who reprised his role Manuel from Fawlty Towers' to appear in a sketch with John Cleese. Other comedians on the bill included Joan Rivers, Michael McIntyre, Stephen K Amos and Omid Djalili. Impressionist Jon Culshaw, Alistair McGowan and Amanda Holden also appeared.

Salon Gallery, hosting the first solo exhibition of controversial Muslim artist Sarah Maple, is vandalised, London, Britain - 28 Oct 2008
GALLERY SHOWING WORK BY CONTROVERSIAL MUSLIM ARTIST VANDALISED
A London gallery hosting the first solo exhibition of controversial Muslim artist Sarah Maple has been vandalised.
Several windows at the Salon Gallery had to be replaced today after they were smashed from having rocks thrown at them.
Maple, who was brought up as a Muslim, has been described as the new Tracey Emin and has provoked controversy with her work.
Her exhibition earlier this year at Rolling Stone Wood's gallery caused outrage for depicting Muslim women in provocative poses, including one suggestively sucking on a banana.
The headline picture of the artist's new show, "This Artist Blows", is 'Haram' , which shows Maple wearing a Hijab and cradling a pig.
Maple comments: "I would like there to be a bigger place for western Muslims in the arts. It's difficult though, we live in scary times.
"I don't pray five times a day but I try to live a good, spiritual life and be kind to people... It may seem like a fairytale but I believe in a spiritual Islam where I have 100% faith in Allah which is more important then sticking to all of the rules which you simply cannot do in the west and successfully integrate".
A spokesman for Salon has commented that: "She [Maple] doesn't intend to offend anyone but simply wants to pose questions about Muslim culture and identity."
However, if the gallery's windows are any indication, there are some people who are obviously not happy that these questions are being posed.
